First-time cheekpieces provided the catalyst for a career-best last time at Wolverhampton (all wins there; now needs to defy a 4lb higher mark away from that venue (first run here). A poor run has usually followed a win this year so caution advised.

Drop back to 5f last time proved to be too sharp a test (return to this trip will prove to suit better); has won over C&D off a much lower mark. Gone well for an apprentice in the past and did run better than for a while last time for this rider.

In fine form when first joining this yard (won three of first four races); taken a while to regain his form since 3 month break after that winning spree. Ran with credit over 5f on Fibresand last time; should be effective back at 6f off this mark.

Not seen for a fair while but has scored over this trip on the AW (off a 2lb lower mark). Reverts to handicaps after last being seen in claiming company; likes to race prominently (travels strongly); no great record fresh.

Appeared to be on a going day when winning at Epsom (7f, good) in September off a much higher mark (has a good record there). Not shaped with much purpose since that run (mainly on AW); quirky sort who can be hard to win with.

Bounced around a few yards this year winning twice for Michael Bell under a 7lb claimer in the summer over 6f twice. Caught the eye in his first two AW runs for this yard but hasn't fared as well since; cheekpieces worn first time now removed.

Started this year poorly before a break, wind op and the addition of a tongue-tie appeared to work the oracle on the AW in October (a falling mark also helping). Two moderate runs have sandwiched a sound effort since; inconsistency a problem.

Three turf wins this year over sprint trips have shown her to be in good form for the most part although he recent AW form showed that she is below her best at the moment. Her mark has slipped below her last winning one but needs to settle better.

Started the year off a mark of 82 but has gradually fallen down the weights on the back of some modest/poor efforts. Has run better the last twice with his last run over 7f suggesting he was worth a try at 6f; does flatter in a finish though.

Took back-to-back lower class handicaps (one over C&D) before being just found out in a 0-80 (6f); not disgraced, just needed to settle better. Slight ease in grade and a 3lb lesser mark point to her making a bold bid to regain the winning thread.

Forecasts

Wotadoll (3/1), Tan (9/2), Laubali (5/1), Global Humor (6/1), Bernie's Boy (8/1), Letmestopyouthere (8/1), Highland Acclaim (10/1), Hollander (20/1), Porto Ferro (20/1), Miracle Garden (20/1)

Verdict

A few in this that have inconsistent profiles but are capable of winning at this level chief amongst that group would be Laubali and Hollander. Tan has run with credit of late and may well enjoy a return to 6f having finished off his race well last time while Global Humor has it in him to win a race off this mark if his finishing effort could be trusted although sprinting may be more his game. WOTADOLL shaped well again last time and having proved her worth over C&D albeit in a lower grade she looks to have a decent chance of getting back to winning ways off this mark.
  1. Wotadoll
  2. Tan
  3. Global Humor
