Placed three times here from six outings the race that he won over 2m last time at Kempton didn't provide a stiff test of stamina (travelled well ; did show he had a quirky side). Has been placed off higher marks; should cope with the 5lb rise.
Dual AW winner over shorter trips he also showed some fair form on the turf this summer (1m6f) but wasn't seen to best effect on his return to action last time (after break). Usual headgear returns here; likely to show more (mark only average).
Only had one run for this yard and that came over hurdles in late 2017 when he showed little. This will be his first Flat run since July 2017 when he finished well held in a Galway handicap; makes his AW debut with questions hanging over him.
One of two runners in this race for the trainer who has yet to win over this far; looked a little less than keen about his finishing effort last time. Did win three of his first four races for this yard but has had his problems since; care needed.
The pick of the yard's two runners in this race who has held his form well of late in AW staying handicaps winning three from mid-year including last time out. Produced a career-best last time over 1m4f at Wolverhampton (stays this far); raised 2lb.
Remains with just one (debut) win to his name despite being with three very competent yards (runner-up three times over hurdles for Dan Skelton). Shown very little in two AW outings for his current yard; hard to support on current evidence.
Capped a consistent spell in the summer with a Brighton win over 1m2f in a lower grade than this and ran fairly well in two subsequent starts. Yet to try this trip though and looks to have a fairly stiff task after two poor recent efforts.
Forecasts
Rydan (11/8), Cry Wolf (3/1), Monjeni (9/2), Paddy A (7/1), Brexitmeansbrexit (12/1), Ezanak (16/1), Shinghari (20/1)
CRY WOLF will need to produce another career-best to continue his winning spree but he 2lb rise for his last win is well within his compass and he looks capable if adding another win to the three AW victories he’s already gained this year. Both Monjeni and Rydan are proficient enough to win at this level although neither looks totally straightforward and the duo have been known not to find as much as promised at the business end especially the former. Paddy A is another reliable type although his mark isn’t that lenient while the other three runners all have something to find to take a hand.
- Cry Wolf
- Paddy A
- Rydan
