Harbour Watch colt got up late on in his debut race at Kempton last month over 1m. Looked like he would appreciate this step up in trip so expecting a bold bid despite the 7lb penalty.

£4,000 son of Gio Ponti half-brother to a 1m-1m½f winner on dirt and turf. Not necessarily the most appealing pedigree and belated debut combined with fact he's already gelded make him best watched.

10,000gns son of Mount Nelson is a half-brother to a 6½f-7f AW winner Splashtop out of a 1m3½f winner. Looks one for middle distances in time and combination of hood and gelding operation raise red flags.

In rear throughout and eventually seventh of 13 on debut at Chelmsford. More needed but in the right hands so expectant of a better effort here although big step up required.

Some late progress when fifth of 13 on debut at Chelmsford last month over 1m. Each way potential with that run likely to bring him on a good bit and longer trip also likely to suit.

Paco Boy newcomer out of a 1m4f winning dam from a stout middle distance family. Looks one for further down the line but represents respected yard so market check advised.

Newcomer by Champs Elysees is a half-sister to 7f-1m2f winner Banksea and 1m4f-1m6f winner Stone The Crows out of a 1m4f winning dam. Likely one for further but one of the more attractively bred newcomers so market can guide.

Two runs for Andrew Balding on turf in October with latest staying on fourth at Newmarket over 1m an encouraging effort. AW/stable debut here and has genuine claims especially with this longer trip expected to suit.

In rear throughout when last of 10 beaten 17L at Kempton on lone race to date back in July. Huge step forward needed to play a part in the finish here.

Second in all three starts including here over 1m½f last time out. Hung left in last two so cheekpieces now added and if they have the desired effect she has an excellent chance to go one better.

Newcomer by Derby winner Sir Percy is a full sister to three winners and half-sister to one more. Stamina very much the strong point in her pedigree so likely come into her own next year over further.

Forecasts

Lady Lizzy (11/8), Dame Malliot (3/1), Kheros (7/2), Sarasota Star (12/1), Hidden Pearl (14/1), Ostrich (25/1), Uncleby (25/1), Gino Wotimean (33/1), Hammy End (33/1), Munstead Moonshine (33/1), Island Reel (66/1)

Verdict

LADY LIZZY has been knocking on the door despite a tendency to hang left under pressure and that form alone gives her a chance but if first-time cheekpieces can straighten her up she has an even better chance. Hidden Pearl showed promise in two turf races which were both likely hotter than this so she is respected on AW debut as is lone winner Kheros despite the penalty.
  1. Lady Lizzy
  2. Hidden Pearl
  3. Kheros
