So far a perfect 2-2 over C&D (beat Cockney Boy last time) she's travelled very well in those races and found plenty for pressure when asked. Has yet to prove that she's effective anywhere else and comes back from a long break but still a player.

Yet to run on this surface he turned in his best effort of the season on his penultimate outing. Appeared unsuited by the change of tactics last time (went from the front; pulled hard) and has work to do now off this mark; often slow away.

Dual winner here although both those victories came some while ago and over a shorter trip that he faces today. Returns from a long break having had some wind surgery and best watched on this occasion.

This will be his Fibresand debut (by a sire with a 10% strike-rate here) and he's already proved that he's a better performer on the AW having won back-to-back handicaps earlier in the year. Competitive if he handles this surface.

Plenty of form around here and two-time C&D winner although his losing run is starting to mount up now despite the handicapper showing him plenty of mercy. Good third here off 1lb higher last time and dangerous off this lowly mark if back to form.

Another one in the field who has run well here before (dual C&D winner) although he's been below form of late. Would be dangerous if he recaptured his form from earlier in the year when he won here three times from the front; won off a higher mark.

Gets adorned with the hood and tongue-tie together this time (has worn both separately) making her Fibresand debut. Generally pulls too hard to do herself justice although the run last time can be excused due to a slipping saddle.

It's been a long time between drinks for this one with 19 runs since his only win; he was way below form on his Fibresand debut last time over his mile. Overall record is one to make backers wary although he would have place chances on his best form.

Just the one win from 24 Flat runs but has generally run his race on this surface and it holds no fears for him; best run when second to Port Soif. Usual headgear now returns after it was left off on his return run; sure to be well ridden.

Very slowly away in a first-time visor over 6f last time out and never able to get in the race. Now back up in trip with the cheekpieces reappearing but yet to win a race and this will be his Fibresand debut.

First time on Fibresand and partnered by one of the better riders in the race he should be able to take a hand if taking to this surface. Sire has a moderate record here though and would need to better his Lingfield placed effort last time.

Showed very little on a recent hurdles outing but had run well before that over having plummeted down the weights on the Flat. Again competes off a lowly mark with the hood and tongue-tie combination retained; market to prove interesting.

Lightly-raced sort who remains a maiden and now makes his Fibresand debut having been easy to back on his handicap debut last time. Dropped 6lb from his opening mark but still looks to have work to do dropping in trip.

Limerick Lord (4/1), Molten Lava (9/2), Boots And Spurs (5/1), Cockney Boy (6/1), Port Soif (8/1), Blame It On Me (9/1), Voice of A Leader (12/1), Majeste (12/1), Caribbean Spring (14/1), Jackhammer (22/1), Moretti (33/1), Billiebrookedit (40/1), Candesta (50/1), Munaawib (100/1)

Verdict

A competitive closing handicap with all bar two of the runners wearing some sort of headgear and that may sum up what sort of race it is. Four of the field are C&D winners with PORT SOIF defending her unbeaten record here having fended off Cockney Boy on her last trip here. She’ll need to be ready after a break but her trainer is more than capable of getting one ready. Boots And Spurs will think he’s running loose off this mark and has to be respected here along with Molten Lava if he handles this surface on his maiden voyage on Fibresand. Of those at bigger prices Caribbean Spring and Jackhammer are worth checking in the market for a positive reaction.
  1. Port Soif
  2. Boots And Spurs
  3. Jackhammer
