Showed some ability in qualifying, and kept on steadily without threatening when sixth on nursery bow at Chelmsford. This is easier, but he still needs to step up to defy a stiffish mark.

Best effort so far when fourth in a 7f maiden at Wolverhampton on penultimate start, but didn't build on that back on turf last time when tongue tied. Tough draw for nursery bow.

Didn't shape badly on debut at Sandown, but not improved on that in three subsequent starts. May do better now handicapping, but others much more persuasive.

Yet to build on promise of debut effort over 6f here, but caught the eye at Goodwood last time having started slowly, and ought to be seen to better effect at this trip, so respected.

Has run to a fair level on all three starts, and almost certainly caught a tartar when third to Headman over 1m at Newcastle last time. Taking on much weaker opposition now, and sure to go close.

Made a promising start in handicaps when third at Bath last month, but failed to beat a rival at Wolverhampton next time, and no obvious excuse for that flop.

Makes handicap debut after three starts in which she's shown up well, although fact she's been given every chance in her races does cast some doubt on whether she will progress for the switch to handicaps. Market helpful.

Promise on 7f debut at Sandown, and hasn't had a chance to build on that over shorter trips since. Appeals as the type who will progress in handicaps, and low draw is an advantage here.

Your Mothers' Eyes15

Showed improved form when fourth on nursery bow at Wolverhampton (7f) recently, and would have finished closer with a clear run. One to bear in mind.

Dancing Jo6

Landed a minor gamble when taking a C&D nursery on penultimate start, and backed that up with a nose second to Rambaldi over 1m here last time. Sure to be in the mix once more.

Some promise in three quick qualifying runs, and better than the bare result when ninth of 14 to Padura Brave in a 1m nursery here last time. Worry that he has left Richard Hannon very cheaply subsequently, and wide draw no help here.

Not yet gone on since switched to nurseries, but shaped well until stamina seemed stretched at Wolverhampton (1m½f) last time, and the handicapper has given him a chance by dropping him another 2lb for that. Blinkered now.

Precision Prince79

Improved to land a C&D nursery in August, and while he ran poorly next time, the runner-up has won three races since, to make the form look strong. Capable of bouncing back after a break.

Well held on all three qualifying outings, but bred to do better, and likely to leave the bare form behind in due course, albeit with a stiffer test probably needed.

Forecasts

Dancing Jo (7/2), Open Sea (9/2), Your Mothers' Eyes (15/2), Whelans Way (8/1), Precision Prince (8/1), Coastguard Watch (11/1), Riviera Claire (12/1), Orchid Killer (12/1), Global Acclamation (14/1), Second Collection (16/1), Cern (20/1), Savoy Brown (22/1), Comeonfeeltheforce (66/1), Cauthen (66/1)

Verdict

The handicapper has been fairly kind to OPEN SEA, who faced an impossible task at Newcastle last time, and she can take advantage of a big drop in class. Precision Prince has had the form of his C&D win franked, and a break since running poorly last time suggests something was amiss. He can bounce back and looks a threat, as does Global Acclamation, who will benefit from a return to this trip on handicap bow.
