Not getting any younger, but showed the flame still burns with back to back victories here over 1m2f-2m. It is a considerable time since he was last effective off a mark this high, but few in this have shown much lately.

Has an AW pedigree so no surprise to see her take a step forward on last two starts at Newcastle. Drops in grade here and a leading player.

The Night King15
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-8| J: F Norton| T: M Quinn| OR:  64| C

Has a good record here and has been running well lately. Probably needs to drop a pound or two but should be thereabouts none the less.

Seven-race maiden who has improved slightly following a wind operation. Down in trip off a lower mark and each-way claims in a modest race.

In frame several times at Beverley in July/August, but form has slipped and yard going through a quiet spell. Blinkers fitted for first time.

Hasn't shown any worthwhile form for almost a year and is now 11lb below his last winning mark. Stable have gone 43 runners and 140 days without a winner.

Sole victory came over C&D and has to be feared on AW return off a mark just 2lb higher.

Sole win came for Paul Cole over C&D three years ago and losing run now stretches back 17 races.

Nine-race maiden who was tailed off on debut for this yard. Cheekpieces fitted this time but that unlikely to be enough.

Nicky Baby224
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-7| J: M Dwyer| T: D K Ivory| OR:  45
20/1
17-race maiden who has produced an occasional good run as was the case at Lingfield in January. Off the track since March and has a poor record off a break.

Hidden Dreamp32
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-4| J: K T O'Neill| T: Mrs C A Dunnett| OR:  45
25/1
11-race maiden needs to rebound from mediocre performances on last two starts. Has failed to stay this far under forcing tactics on those occasions so could improve if settling under a more conservative ride.

Iconic Boy51
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-4| J: Josephine Gordon| T: Alexandra Dunn| OR:  45

Placed once from 11 starts but well beaten in recent times including when finishing seventh over 1m2f at Brighton in September.

Has barely beaten a rival in seven starts and looks of little account. Impossible to fancy from out of the handicap.

Forecasts

Baasha (7/2), Seek The Moon (4/1), The Night King (5/1), Carvelas (6/1), Mullarkey (7/1), Hilborough (11/1), Arcadian Sea (14/1), Shaji (16/1), Ladurelli (16/1), Nicky Baby (20/1), Hidden Dream (25/1), Karakoram (25/1), Iconic Boy (33/1), Patienceisavirtue (66/1)

Verdict

Carvelas is on a hat-trick but that mission is harder off a mark that requires him to turn the clock back a few years. The Night King looks a shade too high in the weights, whilst connections are still to find the key to Baasha. SEEK THE MOON has improved since switching to an artificial surface and her last two runs in stronger company make her the one to beat in a weak contest.
  1. Seek The Moon
  2. The Night King
  3. Baasha
