Pulled up in a seller on penultimate start, and while he fared better when fifth of 9 to Kajaki in a C&D maiden last time, that form doesn't really justify his stiff opening mark.
Still a maiden, but running well in the spring to make the frame on final four starts, and probably needed the run when a respectable seventh to Aspen Colorado at Carlisle. Claims with that run under his belt.
Out of sorts under both codes earlier in the year, but took a forward step when third at Bangor after a break earlier this month, and ought to build on that given how he shaped. Interesting.
Thrown in on best form in this sphere, but seemingly not the force of old, and no sign in recent starts that he's ready to capitalise on a falling mark.
Winner of a C&D event off 11lb lower in May, and ran well next time, but disappointed when last seen at Hexham in June, and returns with yard struggling for winners.
Has won twice over fences during a busy summer, but has failed to complete on last two chase starts, albeit blameless for latest unseat. May need this run to restore his confidence, and 15lb higher than for last hurdles outing.
His standout effort (eighth in a novice at Newcastle) in this sphere doesn't appeal as reliable form, and he's not offered much in a couple of handicap outings to date.
Won a C&D handicap hurdle and again over fences here in April 2017 for Mick Appleby, and back to form when scoring on first start for new yard at Worcester. Not built on that since, and back to hurdles after a poor run last time.
Balance of form is poor, so it wouldn't do to get too carried away by a seemingly much-improved effort when third in mares' novice at Cartmel last time. Well treated if that form is taken literally, though.
Dam a half-sister to stable star Clever Cookie, but not much of family talent has passed to this mare, and fact that her latest seventh of 9 in a Market Rasen novice represents a career best tells its own story.
Stepped up markedly on recent efforts when 7L second of 10 to Iolani in a C&D handicap last month, and just 1lb higher having been out of the weights there. Will go well if he can continue in the same vein.
Poor maiden over hurdles and fences and has had plenty of chances. Makes very little appeal from 11lb out of the weights here.
Forecasts
Hey Bob (7/2), Budarri (4/1), Outcrop (7/1), My Renaissance (7/1), Russian Rascal (15/2), Mutawaasel (8/1), Captain Brown (9/1), Alys Rock (12/1), Millie The Minx (20/1), Super Charge (33/1), Haafaprincess (40/1), Rapid Fritz (100/1)
BUDARRI is much more consistent than most of his rivals here, and is sure to come on for a pipe-opener at Carlisle, so is preferred to Outcrop, who has fallen to a good mark and hinted strongly at a revival when third at Bangor recently. Hey Bob has a patchy profile, but his latest C&D second is as good a piece of recent form as there is on offer, and he will be thereabouts if in similar form now.
- Budarri
- Outcrop
- Hey Bob
