Maiden of 20 starts was beaten 22L when last seen at Wolverhampton in August (10th of 11). Competitive off much higher marks earlier in career so possibilities if new yard can spark a revival in the first-time cheekpieces.
Three time AW winner ran best race since missing all of 2017 campaign when beaten a nose here over C&D two starts back. Subsequent eighth of 12, again over C&D was a little disappointing but could bounce back.
Caught the eye finishing really well latest over C&D where he was sixth of 12 but only beaten 1¼L. That form would give him some hope but not exactly consistent and yet to place in 2018 (nine races).
Had several rivals behind when third over C&D latest where she hit the front 1f out and was only beaten ¼L. That form reads well here particularly off the same mark so she has to be considered a leading candidate.
Won off this mark for previous connections this summer over 7f at Wolverhampton. One paced fifth last time out as good as he has managed since and would need more here to get competitive.
12-race maiden finished eighth latest at Catterick (Mossy's Lodge third) which followed a run of modest run of unplaced efforts since her career best third in July. Visor fitted now and will need to transform her fortunes.
Three-time Beverley winner arrives on a 16-race losing streak. Could never get competitive here latest over 7f when beaten 11L and while her mark now gives some hope that effort comes up some way short of the required.
Not won since 2014 and was completely tailed off latest after a break over 1m2f here. Had another spell on the sidelines since but would be hard to recommend him at present.
Maiden of 34 races hasn't made the frame in four starts since a summer break with eighth placed efforts the last twice a long way short of the required. Easy enough to pass over again.
Landed a long losing run at Ayr back in July but not made the frame in seven subsequent starts although latest fourth at same venue was his best effort since. Run well here in the past so some hope again now.
10-time winner has been unplaced in all 14 of his starts in 2018. Won here in the past over 1m2f but on all recent evidence he looks a shadow of his former self.
12 races without success or much encouragement in 2018 and his latest run when a remote seventh of 10 in a Musselburgh seller continued the run of poor form. Hard to fancy now.
Poor strike rate overall and not won since August 2016. Never involved latest at Wolverhampton when 10th of 12 over 1m½f. Fair fourth here in the summer and two Wolverhampton thirds would be competitive but big bounce back needed.
Has only beaten home seven rival in his 10 starts in 2018. Ended a run of four straight lasts with sixth at Hamilton before latest 10th at Ayr. Unplaced in all previous AW races so positives hard to find.
Forecasts
Cadeaux Boxer (2/1), Mossy's Lodge (4/1), Dark Confidant (5/1), False Id (13/2), Clary (8/1), Stardrifter (11/1), Betty Grable (12/1), Arcane Dancer (22/1), Polar Forest (25/1), Rioja Day (33/1), Mount Cheiron (33/1), Let Right Be Done (40/1), Stamp Duty (50/1), Caledonian Gold (66/1)
Despite the big field here MOSSY'S LODGE is a confident selection against mostly poor or out of form rivals. Her C&D third latest is definitely the best form on offer and she had run well the two times before that too so everything points to her. Dark Confidant was behind the selection latest but finished really well so must be a danger. Clary ran well here two starts back when beaten a nose and a repeat of that effort would give her a real chance.
- Mossy's Lodge
- Dark Confidant
- Clary
