Struggled in stronger company at Nottingham and will appreciate the drop in grade and trip. Twice a C&D winner last season and now 1lb lower. Could go well.

Won at Hamilton in June from 1lb lower, and consistent in defeat since. First visit here but could be involved if handling conditions.

Only won once in 42 starts but that doesn't tell the whole story as he regularly runs well. Handled this C&D on previous visit and place possibilities once again.

Age: 6|  Weight: 9-3| J: Phil Dennis(3)| T: N Wilson| OR:  66| CD

Won five times last year and now 4lb higher than success at Catterick in August. Outclassed in Listed company but ran well in a higher grade over this C&D last time. Should be competitive.

Beat Kinloch Pride in a Class 6 at Musselburgh but may struggle to confirm placings off revised terms. Well held since including on AW debut over this C&D and best watched now.

25/1
Narrow winner of a 5f Musselburgh novice on her second juvenile start for David O'Meara in August 2017. Returned from a big absence to run third to Madam Devious over this C&D, however more required off this mark on handicap debut.

Now 9lb higher than when posting back-to-back wins over this C&D and didn't get a clear run since at Wolverhampton. Probably has more improvement to come but this is tougher.

Gleaming Arch16
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-0| J: D Fentiman| T: F Watson| OR:  63

Five-race maiden whose saddle slipped on previous try in handicap company. Close second to Madam Devious last time and while he's still improving this will require another step forward.

Just one win from 20 starts but went close in a Class 6 over 6f at Chelmsford latest. Best form at that trip and this is tougher.

Roaring Rory28
Age: 5|  Weight: 8-12| J: S A Gray| T: Ollie Pears| OR:  61| D

Returned from wind surgery to shape nicely on seasonal debut. Bounced back from a below-par run with a narrow second over this C&D but this is much stronger.

Kibaar18
Age: 6|  Weight: 8-11| J: J P Sullivan| T: Mrs R Carr| OR:  60| CD

Gained a second win of the year when scoring over this C&D but blew the start, as he can do, when fifth off revised mark at Catterick. More required up in grade.

Madam Deviousv16
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-11| J: J Fanning| T: R M H Cowell| OR:  60| CD
15/2
Consistent performer in her six-race career with her last two runs over this C&D yielding a third to Kibaar and a deserved win. Open to improvement but this is a tough step up in class.

Six-time C&D winner and in decent form on last two visits here. However all those successes came in Class 6 and this may just be beyond him.

Burtonwoodv38
Age: 6|  Weight: 8-9| J: C J McGovern(3)| T: Miss J A Camacho| OR:  58| C| D

Slipped in the weights, and managed to profit at Thirsk in July. Only ran to the same level once in four starts since and although he goes well on this surface may be vulnerable nowadays at 5f.

Forecasts

Another Angel (10/3), Cameo Star (5/1), Madam Devious (15/2), Burtonwood (8/1), Casterbridge (8/1), Kibaar (8/1), Gamesome (10/1), Windforpower (10/1), Roaring Rory (16/1), Revenge (16/1), Kinloch Pride (22/1), Gleaming Arch (25/1), Debawtry (25/1), Jeffrey Harris (33/1)

Verdict

CASTERBRIDGE likes it here and returns to this surface on a favourable mark. Along with Kinloch Pride he will appreciate the ease in grade and the latter rates a main danger. Gamesome is very hard to win with but it would be no surprise to see him place again. Cameo Star is in form and interesting on course debut.
