Showed promise for Tony Coyle, but much improved when making all for new yard at Pontefract (6f, soft) on nursery debut. Penalised for that, and longer trip to contend with now, but respected.

Beat Mohogany on nursery bow at Nottingham in August, but has proved a disappointment on both subsequent starts, and has something to prove now.

Off the mark on soft ground at Thirsk in August, and has run well on all three starts since, latest when 1¾L fourth of 9 to Artistic Rifles in nursery at Catterick. Should give his running one more.

Show Of Strengthh23
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-7| J: B A Curtis| T: A Watson| OR:  75

Hooded since debut, and best effort so far when neck third of 11 to Ride The Monkey in a maiden at Redcar (7f, good) on turf debut last time. Open to progress and claims if handling softer ground.

Twice runner-up over 6f at Chester in the summer, but no match for the winner on either occasion, and below form on last couple of starts. Others bring more pressing claims.

Age: 2|  Weight: 9-6| J: D Nolan| T: R A Fahey| OR:  74

Beaten a neck on nursery bow at Hamilton (6f, soft) in August, and big chance on that form. Beaten favourite next time on heavy, but best excused latest run in Two-Year-Old Trophy at Redcar when essentially out of his depth.

Won his first two starts in the spring on soft/heavy ground, but below that form since, and while the handicapper is giving him a chance (dropped 10lb since handicap debut), he doesn't really look like taking advantage.

All runs gave come on testing ground, and belatedly built on promise of first outing when second of 7 to Wild Edric in 6f novice at Chester last time. Not overburdened now handicapping, and one to consider.

Age: 2|  Weight: 8-12| J: F Norton| T: K A Ryan| OR:  66

Similar form when making the frame on first two starts at around this trip, but well held at Beverley last time. May improve now handicapping, but opening mark leaves no margin for error.

Sdh Dream Team30
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-7| J: Nathan Evans| T: T D Easterby| OR:  61

Has shown ability at a modest level in three starts to date, and not beaten that far behind Major Snugfit at Beverley last time. Does need to improve markedly on that bare form to be competitive here, though.

Ocean Reach82

Not disgraced on penultimate start at Wolverhampton, but beaten a long way on either side of that run, and makes little obvious appeal on handicap bow.

Verdict

SHOW OF STRENGTH improved on a couple of AW efforts when third on his turf debut over this trip, and promises to improve further, so gets the nod ahead of Pontefract winner Lincoln Park. The latter was making his debut for Mick Appleby when scoring on nursery debut, but his stamina for this trip is taken on trust. Zip may appear the less likely of Richard Fahey's pair on form, but is unexposed and clearly suited by testing ground, so merits a second look.
