In great form and followed a Yamouth place with a deserved fourth career win at Ripon. Only narrowly failed to follow up in a stronger contest and has to go close again down in grade off just 3lb higher.

Perfect Symphony31

Only two wins from 24 starts and remains 5lb higher than the last of them. Handled soft ground as a juvenile but needs to find extra off this mark following latest below-par run.

Lightly-raced after just five starts and posted a career-best when a narrow second at Sandown on stable debut for his third trainer. Showed pace from the front and only likely to improve for the run and the extra half furlong.

Now 5lb below last winning mark and handles soft ground. In good form on his last two runs and likely to go well again. Ideally suited by a sharp 5f so this course and trip are not out of the question.

Took advantage of a falling mark when posting a fifth career win and a third over 5f at this track. Not suited by this distance in the past and more required now up 6lb and grade.

Not disgraced over 7f last time and drop in trip no problem as two-time C&D winner. Handles the ground and could go well but just looks in the grip of the handicapper at present.

Age: 4|  Weight: 9-6| J: Hayley Turner| T: A Carson| OR:  68| DWS

Only win came on quicker ground for Roger Varian and has had four poor runs for new stable. First run following an absence and wind surgery and looks best watched.

Won a seller for Michael Attwater but has continued form into handicaps winning two from three for current stable. Up another 4lb but remains handily weighted and can be involved again.

Undoubtedly well handicapped on old form but losing run now stretches back to August 2016. In good enough heart and a three-time C&D winner but quicker ground would be more suitable.

Operative28
Age: 5|  Weight: 9-5| J: L Morris| T: E De Giles| OR:  67| D

Now 7lb lower than when posting back-to-back wins last year and often gives himself too much to do. Withdrawn at Nottingham after playing up in the stalls and while on a good mark, questions do remain.

Storm Melodyp14
Age: 5|  Weight: 9-3| J: Harry Bentley| T: A Stronge| OR:  65| CD
8/1
Inconsistent performer who dropped to a class 6 to gain an overdue success off this mark in June. Tough ask on his second start for new stable at Nottingham but hard to have too much faith in.

Secret Potion8
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-1| J: R P Downey| T: R Harris| OR:  63| CD

Both career wins have come here and is now 1lb lower than the last over this C&D. Handles these conditions and could go well if bouncing back from latest disappointing run.

Incentivep17
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-0| J: Jim Crowley| T: W S Kittow| OR:  62| D

Hasn't really progressed since sole win off 1lb lower on heavy ground last year. Running to a consistent level but perhaps needs significant more rain to get her head back in front.

Sole win came on very fast ground over this C&D and a bit to prove both on this surface and his latest start here.

Won back-to-back races at Windsor and here earlier in the summer and has run well since. Remains 5lb higher than his last win and the easier surface casts significant doubts.

Fantasy Justifierp12
Age: 7|  Weight: 8-11| J: David Probert| T: R Harris| OR:  59| D

Has gone well here previously and arrives in good heart following two wins and two seconds in his last four. Handled cut in the past but first step out of a class 6 for some time and a 6lb rise to contend with.

Jaganoryp16
Age: 6|  Weight: 8-8| J: David Egan| T: C Mason| OR:  56| CD

Three of his six career wins have come here including one over this C&D. Handles any ground and on a competitive mark but needs to lift on recent form.

Forecasts

Case Key (5/1), Belledesert (6/1), Storm Melody (8/1), Incentive (9/1), Our Oystercatcher (10/1), Operative (10/1), Secret Potion (11/1), Essaka (12/1), Yogiyogiyogi (12/1), Fantasy Justifier (12/1), Monumental Man (14/1), Porchy Party (14/1), Air Of York (16/1), Union Rose (22/1), Tundra (25/1), Jaganory (33/1), Perfect Symphony (50/1)

Verdict

A competitive sprint handicap where Case Key and Monumental Man have to be respected in their current form, although the latter is less likely to suited by the give in the ground. Porchy Party is also racing in good heart and will most likely be suited by the conditions. Narrow preference is for OUR OYSTERCATCHER who nearly sprang a surprise on his stable debut and with the performance backed up by a good time, can kick his career on now.
  1. Our Oystercatcher
  2. Case Key
  3. Porchy Party
