Below par at Galway but heavy ground a valid excuse and sets the standard with Listed form that includes a career-best second in Newmarket's Chalice Stakes. Best form on quicker ground so wouldn't want it too soft.

Losing run dates back to May 2017 which is frustrating considering the amount of opportunities she has had. Suited by cut in the ground and this trip and place possibilities again following solid Goodwood run.

Remains lightly-raced and caught the eye staying on late in a Listed race over 1m4f on heavy ground at Galway. Should be spot on after two runs back and appreciate the extra test. Looks a leading hope.

Yet to add to two Irish wins for current trainer and hasn't been in the best of form of late. Missed the break last time and needs to raise her game at this level.

Had some good form in France but has struggled since arriving in the UK, twice in Listed company and over this trip in a Goodwood handicap. Plenty to find at present.

Not disgraced in the Chalice Stakes on ground quicker than ideal so was perhaps disappointing that she didn't fare a bit better than third in a Haydock handicap on heavy. A bit more required.

Consistent filly who has been placed five times in a row culminating in a career-best third on soft ground at Chester against the males. Likely to go close once again.

Four career wins have come in low grade handicaps and sole turf success was on quick ground. Faces enormous task in this company.

Dual winner over hurdles and in bumpers and off the mark on the Flat in effortless fashion. Steps up from maiden straight to Listed company but shouldn't be discounted.

Progressive stayer this season winning six from seven and now moves out of handicap company. Likely to make this a true test of stamina, handles the conditions but will need to improve again.

Off the mark in testing conditions at Galway on her fourth start. More to come at this trip but this is a big step up in class and has plenty to find.

One place behind Alwaysandforever in the Chalice Stakes and took another step forward in Group 2 company last time. May have been flattered by getting to set some slow early fractions and ground could be against her.

Typically progressive type for this stable and produced a dominant win over this trip at Catterick and then just found the shorter distance against her at Pontefract. There should be more to come but this is a big step up.

Forecasts

True Self (6/4), Alwaysandforever (6/1), Mistress Quickly (8/1), Galmarley (9/1), Altra Vita (10/1), High Language (10/1), Mam'selle (12/1), Trouble And Strife (14/1), Roystonia (25/1), Cascabel (25/1), Jet Streaming (33/1), Graceland (40/1), Luire (66/1), Reckless Wave (125/1)

Verdict

Alwaysandforever sets a good standard on the best of her Listed form for last year's winning stable but if the ground gets too testing then she may be vulnerable. The more rain the better for HIGH LANGUAGE who looks to have a good race in her over this sort of trip and arrives fresher than most. Mistress Quickly is such a likeable filly and deserves to land a race like this. It's not inconceivable that the highly progressive Altra Vita will find the extra needed to be win again and she'll make a bold bid from the front. True Self is hard to weigh up but her maiden win was certainly stylish and she adds further intrigue. Graceland shouldn't be discounted for a place.
  1. High Language

  3. Altra Vita
