Horse A-Z
Jumped well throughout when winning a 3m maiden point-to-point at Loughrea (yld/soft) in May, and now switches to hurdles for rules debut for Lucinda Russell.

The form of his Hereford debut bumper win (2m, soft) isn't overly strong, but this €5,000 foal is switched to hurdling at a realistic level after finishing in midfield in a Grade 2 Aintree bumper in April; chance.

Shown glimmers of ability including when finishing 6L fourth of six to Aye Right (2m4f novice) at Kelso last month; tack issues when pulled up in a weak race here last week (2m7f).

10L winner of a 3m Kinsale maiden (good) in June; didn't get home on rules debut at Cartmel in August (2m6f, soft) when a well beaten fourth behind subsequent Hexham winner Mac Tottie.

Beat subsequent Fontwell winner Earth Moor (P.Hobbs) by 2L when winning a Worcester bumper in June (good) and also ran well behind the still unbeaten Longhouse Sale at Market Rasen (2m1f); hurdles debut.

Modest record in 3m Irish point-to-points (1-11), but has changed stables since, so is worth a cautionary glance in the market on rules debut; wears a tongue-tie.

Bought for £7,000 in May; 1-8 in Irish point-to-points, kept on strongly to beat Road by The River by 1L in a 3m Belclare maiden in March; stable/rules debut.

0-14 under rules for Rose Dobbin in 2014/15 (hence the eligibility for this maiden hurdle); has won a point-to-point since last appearing under rules, but is impossible to consider off a 510 day absence.

Raced over 1m6f on the Flat at Nottingham last week (finished eighth of 15); solid if unspectacular over hurdles prior to that run; 12L runner-up to Mac Tottie (a stablemate of Fortunes Hiding) at Cartmel in August (2m6f+, soft).

Hasn't looked to be the most proficient of hurdlers so far, and shouldn't be overly competitive in this race; likely better with additional experience/confidence and the switch into low-grade handicaps.

Possible that he'll pick up a small race somewhere along the line (most likely a handicap); back over hurdles after struggling (not jump well) on chasing debut over C&D in May; hood applied.

0-17 in Irish point-to-points, and tailed-off on rules debut at Downpatrick (2m6f) in July; backnumber.
Runner-up in a 3m mares maiden at Loughrea (heavy) in October 2016, but her form under rules (0-4) is poor; not considered.

Arthur Mac (10/11), Fortunes Hiding (5/2), Ain't My Fault (15/2), Sheriff Garrett (10/1), Largy Beach (12/1), Farocco (16/1), Glen Roe (25/1), Fiercly Forgie (28/1), War Joey (33/1), Nine O Three (33/1), Mrs Vonn (50/1), Pegasus Walk (100/1), Wagner Klass (150/1), Archview Sunshine (200/1), How Much Is Enough (200/1)

Verdict

Arthur Mac probably didn't achieve that much in winning a modest Hereford bumper on debut in January, but he's fully respected on hurdles debut for Philip Hobbs in a race which isn't lacking in terms of numbers, but is so in terms of depth. However, preference is for the Peter Bowen-trained FORTUNES HIDING. The Pembrokeshire based handler had mixed fortunes with his runners here last week, but operates a 19% strike-rate (6-31) at the track, and there's plenty of depth to this 5yo's bumper form. Although a beaten favourite at Market Rasen in June, the winner of that race (Longhouse Sale) is unbeaten in four starts for Dan Skelton.
