Consistent, experienced juvenile used those assets to good effect latest when winning a valuable Irish sales race over 6½f. Placed earlier in a 5f French Listed race but this demands more yet again although he will run his usual solid race.

Beaten a nose at Royal Ascot in the 5f Group Two Norfolk Stakes and ran well enough next up when only beaten 1¼L into fourth in a French Group Two. Comes on the back of a layoff but form is rock solid so merits serious respect if fully fit.

Got off the mark at the fourth time of asking when winning a moderate Chelmsford handicap easily. Upped 12lb and in grade he followed up at the same venue but this demands considerably more and only two previous turf races.

Coventry Stakes third (6f, Group Two) was an excellent effort but lesser run next when stable under a cloud and entitled to have needed the run last time out in Group One Middle Park. More than capable at this level if bouncing back.

Improved on fair debut when second and slightly unlucky in a Sandown maiden over 5f. Entering a race of this nature as a maiden is surely going to prove too much at this stage.

Nottingham novice winner was third in a 5½f French Group Two and 6f Group One next before returning to these shores with a second in a 6f Newbury Group Three. Back to 5f today and it may well suit his keen racing style so rated a serious contender.

Dual 5f Listed winner at Sandown and York and again ran well over the distance last time out in France when second of nine. 5f very much his distance which gives him an advantage on several rivals and a bold bid looks assured.

6f Haydock winner in second start but disappointed next when turned over as a 1/3 favourite at Musselburgh. Surely better than that run but nevertheless hard to fancy her at this level on evidence so far.

Catterick novice win her lone success to date in eight starts but ran well in penultimate start when second of 11 at 50/1 in a 5f York Listed race. Couldn't build on that on heavy ground next but back on a sound surface she has place claims again.

5f Navan maiden winner has also managed third placed finishes in a 5f Listed and 6f Group Three race both at the Curragh. Shade disappointing next at Fairyhouse in a Listed race and on the whole others appeal more.

Impressive 5f Sandown maiden scorer in second race following a good second there. Upped in class latest she ran with credit when second of 14 in a Newbury Listed race although was beaten 3L. More needed again but possible she can improve further.

Off the mark at the third time of asking when drooping back to 5f where she scored at Nottingham and built on that well over the same trip when winning a French Listed race. Clearly on the up as she moves another rung up the ladder.

Highlight of her three wins came in a French Listed race in July but not been able to build on that the last twice in Group Three's and tailed off at Ayr latest on bottomless ground. Sounder surface will help and blinkers tried now.

Gained second success latest in a 5f Naas handicap but unplaced in three previous attempts at pattern level so she looks to have plenty on her plate again here.

Forecasts

Sergei Prokofiev (3/1), True Mason (4/1), Well Done Fox (6/1), Poetry (13/2), Heartwarming (13/2), Pocket Dynamo (10/1), Barbill (16/1), Fantasy (25/1), Yolo Again (33/1), Prince of Rome (33/1), Deia Glory (50/1), Second Generation (50/1), Armageddon (50/1), The Cruising Lord (100/1)

Verdict

Karl Burke won this in 2015 with the high-class Quiet Reflection and he can win it again with TRUE MASON who has smart form in higher class races but has long hinted that he could be even better at the minimum distance. Sergei Prokofiev's Coventry stakes third is very strong form behind two very high class individuals and there have been excuses since so he isn't written off by any means. Well Done Fox is an out-and-out 5f horse which some of his rivals aren't and he can use that speed to good effect once again here.
  1. True Mason
  2. Sergei Prokofiev
  3. Well Done Fox
