Didn't go on after a promising start last year, but again caught the eye on his return when a fast-finishing third to Chagatai (Kamra second) over C&D last month. Needs to show he can build on that, but interesting.
Claims on his third at Sandown in July, but that effort is something of a standout on this year's scorecard, and he's easy enough to oppose based on subsequent efforts.
Made a winning debut for this yard in a 6f handicap at Windsor (good) in August, and looked unlucky when fourth of 10 to Nibras Again at Bath last time, keeping after meeting trouble. Leading claims here.
Both wins have come here, and got back on the up when beating Our Lord over C&D last month despite not enjoying the run of the race. Should remain competitive.
Claimed from David O'Meara in August, and having run well at Laytown, he landed a C&D claimer in good style. Matched that effort back in handicap company last time, and respected in current form.
Had been running over 7f, but appreciated drop in trip when taking a C&D handicap last time by a neck from Sweet And Dandy. More to do from revised mark, and high draw not ideal.
Won at Wolverhampton in July on debut for current yard (in this headgear combination), and better from when second of 9 to Chagatai over C&D in August. Seems to be going the right way again, so needs consideration from 1lb higher.
Disqualified after passing the post first at Windsor last month, and would be of interest from a 1lb higher mark on that form, but he's been well beaten twice since, and has something to prove at present.
Not beaten far at the Curragh in July, but it has been a tale of woe from him since, and he's hard to fancy on recent form.
Third at Doncaster in June, but has made less impact since, and opposable even if offering excuses for a poor run at Newmarket when last seen in July.
Not the easiest to predict these days, but got back on track in first-time blinkers when fourth to Acrux in a C&D claimer last time. Has prospects of reversing form on revised terms, but not certain to be in the same form now.
Has struggled to make a major impact since scoring narrowly at Lingfield in February. Tends to run her race, and rarely disgraced, but still looks vulnerable despite slipping below that winning mark.
Forecasts
Vj Day (5/2), Fivetwoeight (4/1), Kamra (8/1), Acrux (8/1), Glory of Paris (10/1), Parnassian (11/1), Dream Catching (14/1), Shepherd's Purse (14/1), Outrage (16/1), Time Zone (16/1), Very Honest (33/1), Rockies Spirit (33/1)
VJ DAY is in fine form for his new yard, and would have gone close but for being stopped in his run at Bath last time. He can make amends at the expense of recent C&D winner Fivetwoeight, who had a bit in hand that day. Kamra is another who has got back on track with blinkers applied for his new yard, and should also be thereabouts.
- Vj Day
- Fivetwoeight
