Won two of his first three for current yard early last year, but losing run now stretches to 18, and he ran poorly at Goodwood in August. Slipping in the weights, but needs to show more.

Won at Lingfield in April, and usually reliable, but he ran poorly after a break at Chelmsford last time, and off another seven weeks since. Bit to prove, and yard quiet.

Has won four of his ten races, and did well to score from well off the pace at Chelmsford last time. Benefited from removal of headgear there, and remains relatively unexposed.

Won on reappearance at Sandown in 2016, but has proved frustrating since, and again could run just respectably when sixth to Corrosive at Chelmsford last time. Blinkers back on now, and handicapper has given him a chance.

Yet to run a poor race, and gained third win of the year when staying on late to score over C&D last month. Raised 3lb for that but should remain competitive granted a decent pace.

Clearly better on AW than turf, and bounced back from a poor run when a good third to Ledham over C&D last time. Has shown gradual progress at this trip, and may do better still if cheekpieces have desired effect.

Third in 2016 Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot for Aidan O'Brien, and best effort for current yard when neck third of 12 to Redgrave over 7f here on penultimate start. Very slowly away when last of 9 over C&D last time, and risky now.

Fulfilled the promise of debut run when winning a maiden at Newbury in August, and back on track when third on AW debut at Chelmsford last time. Needs to build on that, but not dismissed lightly.

Forecasts

Corrosive (15/8), Maypole (10/3), Qaroun (7/2), Dark Profit (10/1), Mr Scaramanga (11/1), Sir Hamilton (11/1), Manson (12/1), Unforgiving Minute (16/1), Pedestal (25/1)

Verdict

CORROSIVE came with a blistering run to win at Chelmsford, and is clearly still improving, so looks the likeliest winner. Maypole should also be competitive after scoring a narrow win here last month, and Sir Hamilton is not taken lightly after a good third here last time when hampered by the winner.
  1. Corrosive
  2. Maypole
  3. Sir Hamilton
