Garswood colt, price slightly decreased as a yearling but still a 60,000gns purchase. Definite signs of promise on both starts to date and should play a part with improvement to come.

Son of Born To Sea bought for €18,000 as a yearling last September. Big prices both starts to date on the AW at Newcastle and shown very little. Looks one for handicaps further down the line. Turf debut.

Invincible Spirit colt related to four winner including Group 3 winning sprinter Mabs Cross. Slowly away and ran green on debut over 6f at Carlisle. Should have learnt plenty from that experience and is they type to do better.

Gelded son of Sepoy who fetched £28,000 as a yearling. Easy to back and only a modicum of ability on two starts so far. Should do better in time but may be more suited to handicaps after this.

Not beaten far despite racing freely at Newcastle on debut, but failed badly to build on that at Thirsk next time, and opposable even if bouncing back to debut form.

By Kodiac and cost £68,000 as a yearling. Led and weakened late on at Thirsk (7f, good to soft) on debut. Should come on for that initial experience and play a leading role here.

Open Sea
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: K Stott| T: S bin Suroor
5/2
First foal by Pivotal out of a dam who was a maiden up to 1m. Half-sister to ill-fated Group 3 winner Newfangled. Likely type on paper and should know her job on debut.

Heeraat filly that cost £30,000 as a yearling. Dam was a winner over 5f on Fibresand. Half-sister to smart performers La Rioja, Pastoral Girl and Lilbourne Lass. Market a good guide on debut.

Forecasts

Urban Highway (7/4), Open Sea (5/2), Camber (7/2), Samlesbury (10/1), Tease Maid (14/1), Ollivander (14/1), Up The Millers (40/1), Separable (66/1), Our Rodney (100/1), Potenza (100/1)

Verdict

Open Sea is an interesting newcomer for her powerful and will be of interest, especially if strong in the market. Urban Highway gave the impression there would be more to come on debut and is respected here. SAMLESBURY ran green on debut and has a nice pedigree. There could be plenty more to come and can make it second time lucky.
  1. Samlesbury
  2. Open Sea
  3. Urban Highway
