Dual winner earlier in the season, both over this trip, the latter being from 6lb lower. Below par last time, but if he could reproduce his Ayr effort from two starts ago then he would have claims now back up in trip.
Arrives in good form. 8lb higher than his decisive 4L C&D (good to firm) success last time, with 5lb also claimed. Good draw here and could make a good fist of defying that reassessment of his abilities.
In decent form after scoring at Ayr (7f, good) on his penultimate start and going very close back there last time. Up another 1lb and drawn wide here, so more is needed, but not ruled out.
Dual C&D winner on soft ground. Without success since scoring at Ripon 14-months ago from 18lb higher. Has a chance based on two runs back there this season, but plenty to prove on recent efforts and from this draw.
Four-time winner here over 6f. Has had a few possible chances of late but not been able to take any of them. Others preferred.
Dual winner here over 6f and C&D, both with cut in the ground. Back down on the same mark as when scoring last in April. Could leave recent form behind him, especially if the forecast deluge arrives.
1-16, having scored at Wetherby (7f, good to firm) in June, when 2lb higher. Has been badly out of sorts since, but from this mark, a good draw and with 7lb claimed, he could bounce back. Probably won't want much rain.
5lb lower than when scoring at Ayr 11-months ago (1m, soft), for Keith Dalgleish. Sold for 2,500gns since his last run in July and now makes his debut for this trainer. 7lb claim makes him interesting, especially if the grounds softens.
0-6 so far, and back from a break today sporting a first-time tongue-tie. Not easy to fancy on recent evidence, but precautionary market check prudent.
Scored at Musselburgh (7f, good) last time by 6L and the handicapper has not missed it. Up 8lb for that, which makes this look tough. Probably wouldn't want much rain.
Scored on debut but gone 17 further races without addition to that total. Plummeting in the weights, but not easy to make a strong case for him.
Scored over C&D (good to soft) last year, when 4lb lower and has since added further wins at Leicester (soft) and Ayr (good to firm, from 1lb lower) over the trip. Tough draw here, but blinkers might help spark a revival and not ruled out.
2-30 and has not won for two years. Not ground dependent (has won on good/soft). 2lb 'wrong' here and looks up against it on recent form.
2-64 and over two years since the more recent of those wins. Has run respectably in defeat on several occasions this season, but is a risky proposition from 3lb out of the handicap.
Forecasts
Redrosezorro (7/2), Supreme Power (7/2), Naples Bay (9/2), Mischief Managed (13/2), Shouranour (11/1), Jackhammer (12/1), Meshardal (14/1), Tellovoi (16/1), Carlovian (16/1), Market Choice (40/1), Munthany (50/1), A J Cook (66/1), Wide Acclaim (66/1), Cliff Bay (66/1)
Very ordinary fayre where the Mischief Managed has claims from top weight, Supreme Power has to be taken seriously and Naples Bay is also of interest. However, with plenty of rain forecast, that should bring Redrosezorro and CLIFF BAY into it and the suggestion is to chance the latter, who looks well treated on his debut for this trainer.
- Cliff Bay
- Redrosezorro
- Mischief Managed
