1-20 and has proved expensive to follow. Looked as though he might double his win tally at Ayr last month, but didn't see it out and he carries plenty of risks.

1-21. Went very close here in a similar contest, from this mark, in July and ran well again here next time from 1lb higher. Not ruled out.

The last of his four wins was over C&D (heavy) almost a year ago, when 7lb higher. Well handicapped on that form, but has not taken a couple of chances offered of late. Not written off, but hard to be confident about him and needs rain.

C&D winner on soft in May, when 3lb lower. Only seen twice since. Beaten 3L from this mark at Carlisle last time. Best form so far has been on good or slower. Not yet exposed, useful claimer up and enters calculations.

Goes well here and has three C&D wins (on good/good to firm) to his name, the most recent when 6lb lower last month. Drops back from 7f on last two starts and is much respected back at this venue.

1-12, having scored at Ripon (6f, good to soft) on his penultimate start last month. Heavy ground a probable excuse when well beaten from this mark at Carlisle last time. Not ruled out if he can bounce back.

Effective over both 6f/7f and on good ground or slower. 7lb higher than when winning a 0-60 at Thirsk (6f, soft) last month. Since gone close at Redcar. Below that level last time and more needed in this better race.

1-20, that win being over 7f at Chelmsford (AW), though 0-12 on turf. Went well in a Beverley claimer last time. Poor draw here for this drop back in trip and will probably need some luck in running to get involved, but stiff 6f could suit.

Last three wins were all from a stone higher mark, though the last two of those were on his preferred Tapeta at Newcastle. Acts on any ground on turf and is on a competitive mark, but more needed for win purposes.

Both his wins have come over C&D on soft/heavy, so any rain would be appreciated. Well treated here based on those successes this time last year. Out of sorts throughout this season, including in a hood. Cheekpieces now tried. Plenty to prove.

Sole win was in a firm ground 5f novice event at Bath last year for Richard Hannon. Not as good this season, but has put in a couple of respectable efforts. Can't ruled out after 3lb drop, but poor draw and rain would be a concern.

11-race maiden who has an each-way squeak if able to produce his best, but he is inconsistent, so those taking the plunge do so knowing that he carries more than his fair share of risks.

Verdict

On a day of tough races, they don't come much tougher than this bunch of rare winners. However, something has to prevail and the suggestion is THE RIGHT CHOICE, who is at least unexposed and drawn well. Round The Island could be a sizeable danger to the selection, with the old boy Seamster, Inexes, Shortbackandsides and Chaplin Bay all respected.
