15/2
Nursery winner off a 2lb higher mark at Thirsk (5f, good to soft) in August 2017, but far from convincing so far in 2018 (including at Musselburgh on Friday); best watched.

9/2
Won just once in in 16 starts, and that was 12 months ago (5f Ripon). However, his mark is sliding and he's running reasonably well of late; beaten just ½L in a 5f selling handicap at Ripon in August.

Claimed for £7,000 after finishing second in a Lingfield seller (6f AW) in June, but yet to show too much for this trainer in four subsequent starts; dropped 4lb since her last run.

Her sole success came on soft/heavy ground (5f) at Tipperary in May; modest since including in a couple of attempts for this trainer; difficult to enthuse over despite a falling mark.

Sienna Saysp11
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-13| J: T Hamilton| T: R Fell & S Murray| OR:  56| D

Broke her duck at the 20th attempt when scoring narrowly on the AW at Newcastle recently (5f), beating the subsequent winner Brendan (Amazing Amaya fourth); runner-up over 6f at this track in May; holds every chance.

Age: 3|  Weight: 8-12| J: A Elliott| T: Ronald Thompson| OR:  55
6/1
15-race maiden who has been placed either second or third on his last eight racecourse appearances; turf or AW, it all comes alike to him; blinkers replace cheekpieces (worn latest).

The Bull39
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-11| J: G Lee| T: B Haslam| OR:  54
50/1
£26,000 yearling; has scarcely managed to beat a single rival in three starts so far spread over a six month period (5f-7f); hard to consider on handicap debut from a wide draw despite the moderate looking opposition.

Boudica Bay33
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-9| J: Rachel Richardson| T: E J Alston| OR:  52| BF
5/1
Six-race maiden, but has found the frame on all three starts in handicap company (6f); her July Ripon third to Stewardess (6f maiden handicap) was loosely franked when the runner-up Silk Mill Blue won at Newcastle on Friday.

Another Situationb117
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-8| J: Philip Prince(3)| T: R C Guest| OR:  51
14/1
Ran no kind of race whatsoever at Redcar latest (6f, good), but had appeared to be on the upgrade prior to that over 5f-6f (with cut); any further rainfall would be in her favour with blinkers applied; respected.

Bonanza Bowlsb117
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-7| J: Cam Hardie| T: B Smart| OR:  50
20/1
Nine-race maiden who in truth doesn't look to be overly blessed with ability; safely held by Another Situation on Thirsk form (6f) from last month, so will need to blinkers to work the oracle from his wide draw.

French Silk8
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-3| J: D Fentiman| T: C W Fairhurst| OR:  46
12/1
12-race maiden with bits and pieces of 6f placed form which would give her a semblance of a chance. However, she finished well down the field (tenth of 14) on the AW at Newcastle eight days ago, and looks risky overall.

Your Just Desserts13
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-2| J: J Fanning| T: R M Whitaker| OR:  45
11/2
Beaten just under 1L when finishing third to Pearl Acclaim over C&D on her penultimate start, and on the premises (fifth) at Musselburgh latest; closely matched with Zizum and Life For Rent on her latest form; more needed in order to break the duck.

Zizumb13
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-2| J: Nathan Evans| T: A Berry| OR:  45
40/1
14-race maiden with poor form overall; nearest at the finish when placed (50/1) at Musselburgh latest - by far his best effort since finishing second of 12 (for George Scott) over 6f in a nursery here in October 2017.

Forecasts

Life For Rent (9/2), Boudica Bay (5/1), Your Just Desserts (11/2), Madam Devious (11/2), Furni Factors (6/1), Amazing Amaya (13/2), Mable Lee (15/2), Sienna Says (11/1), Summerseat Dream (12/1), French Silk (12/1), Another Situation (14/1), Bonanza Bowls (20/1), Kavora (33/1), Zizum (40/1), The Bull (50/1)

Verdict

A low-grade handicap where winning form is a scarce commodity. It took the pacy Sienna Says 20 attempts to break her duck, but she held off a subsequent winner (Brendan) and today's rival Amazing Amaya in winning at Newcastle, and in her favour she's also run well here (6f) in the past. Boudica Bay isn't fully exposed after just six starts (three in handicaps) and could make her presence felt from a low draw. Madam Devious is fitted with a visor and open to improvement, but her wide draw isn't ideal. A similar comment could be levelled at the pick ANOTHER SITUATION (stall 10), but she's far better than her latest effort and further rain would aid her cause
  1. Another Situation
  2. Boudica Bay
  3. Sienna Says
