Has fallen 8lb in the weights since joining Les Eyre for £15,000 (formerly with David Barron); was a progressive juvenile at this track in late 2016 (7f-1m) so interesting to see if wind surgery (and tongue-tie) have a positive impact.

2lb higher than when scoring by a head at Catterick in July (7f, good to firm), and hasn't fared too badly on the whole since, but probably needs to produce a fraction extra if to break his duck on the AW (0-4).

Difficult to draw any real positives from the form of her last three starts (7f turf), but she's now 7lb lower than when finishing fourth of nine (beaten less than 2L) over C&D in November 2017; eye-shields applied.

Without a win since scoring at Southwell (5f) on debut in April 2016, and hasn't exactly suggested his turn is imminent; feasibly treated off a reduced mark (19lb lower than when fourth of eight; beaten 4L, over 1m here in November 2017).

Justified the market confidence in a Lingfield maiden (6f) in March, which followed an earlier fair effort at this track; has found life in handicaps more difficult, but is slowly easing in the weights and isn't wholly exposed.

Left Archie Watson for 7,000gns in October 2017, with a sole 6f Doncaster nursery win on the CV; hasn't kicked on in 2018 on turf, but looks to be fairly well treated on the AW as a result (mark 10lb lower than for last synthetics start).

Shown some improvement in headgear from a lowly mark, winning off 6lb lower at Ayr (7f, good) on her penultimate start, and better than the bare result (met trouble) at Musselburgh latest; cheekpieces go on for return to AW; of interest.

Seven-race maiden who has shown poor form in handicap company this season (7f-1m), dropping 15lb in the weights in four starts; blinkers now applied.

Ten-race maiden; has done all of her racing in 2018 over 1m1f-1m2f, and drops back to 7f for the first time since finishing sixth of 14 over C&D in November 2017 (off 9lb higher); tongue-tie applied.

Acclamation filly (165,000gns yearling); possibility that she's found 5f-6f on the sharp side since introduced to handicaps, but it remains difficult to see an upturn in fortunes unless the first-time visor has a transformational effect.

40/1
Four-time career winner (7f-1m1f), including most recently at Ayr in July (good to firm) when beating today's rival Robben Rainbow; poor since but interestingly a runner up on both AW starts (C&D) from similar marks in November 2017.

Age: 8|  Weight: 8-10| J: Rowan Scott(3)| T: R E Barr| OR:  45

His namesake has made the news this week, but whilst this 8yo has also generated plenty of runs (63) during his career, he can hardly be described as a prolific winner (2); first AW run since July 2017.

Age: 3|  Weight: 8-6| J: Barry McHugh| T: J S Wainwright| OR:  45
66/1
14-race maiden who has yet to prove herself on the AW (or anywhere else for that matter) and looks impossible to consider.

Forecasts

Sumner Beach (5/2), Robben Rainbow (4/1), Supaulette (5/1), Betty Grable (11/2), Ronnie The Rooster (10/1), Porrima (10/1), Song Of Summer (14/1), She's Royal (25/1), Boodley (33/1), My Girl Maisie (33/1), Stardrifter (40/1), Angie B (66/1), A J Cook (100/1)

Verdict

An uninspiring first division of a Class 6 7f handicap. Supaulette arrives in the best recent form with the combination of headgear and the step up to 7f clearly suiting her. She's of obvious interest towards the fore of the market now switched back to the AW in first time cheekpieces. Porrima isn't wholly exposed and handles this track, whilst the visor is fitted to the so far disappointing Boodley. Stardrifter is inconsistent, but an interesting angle on his C&D form from November 2017, however, we'll chance the now hopefully clean winded (and well-treated) RONNIE THE ROOSTER who was a thoroughly reliable juvenile at this track in late 2016.
  1. Ronnie The Rooster
  2. Supaulette
  3. Stardrifter
