Back in the groove when winning over this trip at Doncaster in June, making all and staying on strongly. Has been disappointing in two starts since, however, contrastingly finding little for pressure both times.

Given a chance by the handicapper prior to winning at Pontefract in July, and ran even better when second to Weather Front at Hamilton last time, pulling 5L clear of the third. Big chance with a repeat of that effort.

Consistent sort who has returned from wind surgery in fair form, winning 1¼m amateur event at Ayr in June. Creditable efforts since, and drop to 1m very much against him last time. Visor he wore there retained now.

Best effort for Andre Fabre when runner-up over 1m5f at Les Sables-d'Olonne in June, but well held when unseating on sole start over hurdles for Malcolm Jefferson, and failed to beat a rival on return to Flat for new yard at Nottingham last month.

Form has been patchy in recent times, but took a big step in the right direction when 2L second of 13 to Motahassen at Carlisle (1m1f) last time. Needs to show he can build on that at a trip he's not certain to stay.

Maiden who ran well when runner-up here in May, but not really built on that, and had every chance when just a fair fifth at Musselburgh last time.

Beaten a long way in three qualifying runs, and opening mark a stiff one, as he showed when only sixth on handicap bow at Epsom. Similar form when mid-field at Newmarket last time, and needs more respite than the 2lb he's been allowed.

Winner at Brighton in May and over this trip at Leicester in June. Respectable efforts since, and failed to stay longer trip at Catterick last time. Should bounce back with leading rider booked.

No win and just the one place to show from ten starts so far; well beaten when sent off at big odds on both starts for current yard, and makes no appeal from well out of the handicap here.

Forecasts

Multellie (6/4), Brancaster (9/2), Careyanne (11/2), Dwight D (11/2), Thorntoun Care (8/1), Mac O'Polo (11/1), My Fantasea (20/1), Ecole D'art (50/1), Legendoire (100/1)

Verdict

MULTELLIE is very much in the groove right now, and was 5L clear of the third when runner-up at Hamilton last time. He will go very well in the same form here, and gets the nod over Careyanne, who has the sought-after services of Simon Walker. Dwight D is handicapped to win after bouncing back to form at Carlisle, but there is a slight concern about his stamina for this trip.
  1. Multellie
  2. Careyanne
  3. Dwight D
