Gone close to winning a couple of times and showed an uphill finish holds no terrors when runner up to an odds-on favourite at Pontefract last time. Softer conditions would ask a new question but that can be said for many of these, so holds chances.
Looked ready to win a race when second at Newcastle in July (winner looks a useful sort) but threw in a stinker last time at Pontefract, racing too keenly. Handicap mark looks fair enough but needs to settle better here.
Far from disgraced on any of his four starts and nothing wrong with his second at Southwell in a competitive little event last time out. Won't mind a drop of rain, appears well drawn and should be up to throwing down a challenge.
It looked like a decent effort to finish fourth at York two starts ago but the form of that isn't working out and he was well beaten at Redcar last time, albeit he was sticking on at the finish. Stiff 5f may suit, but others more persuasive.
Best efforts so far have come on the Tapeta at Newcastle and his turf form simply doesn't match up to it, well beaten at Redcar last time out. Hard to make a solid case for at present.
Went close on nursery debut at Catterick in July but that was over 6f on a sharp track, so a different test here, and form since then hasn't been as good. Bit to prove at present and others make more appeal.
Has improved a little on all three starts and gives the impression a stiff track will suit, having been outpaced at Wolverhampton last time out and then staying on again late. However, yard just 1-15 with their 2yos here, which is a bit offputting.
Almost got his head in front at Beverley over 5f in July, so good chance this test will suit him, but does need to put a below-par effort at Leicester (7f) last time behind him. Pulled too hard there, so drop back to 5f a plus, and he could go well.
Getting the hang of things and his fourth at Nottingham last time was a step back in the right direction after a couple of poor efforts. Didn't enjoy the smoothest of runs there either, and this stiff 5f could be ideal. One to be interested in.
Showed a willing attitude to get home by the minimum margin at Ayr last time out (nicely backed to do so) and seems to be steadily improving with racing. 4lb higher here but a similar effort puts him in the firing line. Definite chances.
Wasn't far behind Tobeeornottobee at Ayr last time and a 6lb pull in the weights gives her a chance to turn that form around but she doesn't look as progressive as the winner at this stage. so needs a bit of improvement.
well beaten all starts and has been a disappointing favourite a couple of times as well, so needs to turn things around if she's to get involved here.
Forecasts
Swiss Connection (4/1), I'm Billy Murphy (11/2), Tobeeornottobee (6/1), Rum Lad (7/1), Essenza (8/1), March For Men (8/1), Four Wheel Drive (9/1), Hard Solution (10/1), Mr Diamond (16/1), The Grey Zebedee (16/1), Hey Jazzy Lady (33/1), Majestic Appeal (40/1)
Any more rain would turn this into something of a guessing game, as plenty are unproven on soft ground. FOUR WHEEL DRIVE looks the safest option at present, as he's nicely drawn, handles a bit of cut and looks mildly progressive. I'm Billy Murphy should enjoy this stiffer track and could easily take another step forward, and Tobeeornottobee is still at the right end of the handicap after his Ayr win.
- Four Wheel Drive
- I'm Billy Murphy
- Tobeeornottobee
