Yet to refind best form for new yard, but did better in blinkers when 3¼L second of 4 to Hyanna at Epsom in July, and didn't enjoy the best of luck there last time. This represents a slightly easier task on paper.

Won three times in French provinces at up to 1½m, and popped up on British debut at Yarmouth in July having been well backed. Failed to stay 2m at Chelmsford next time, and claims back at this trip.

Dual Flat winner for John Gosden, but went the wrong way for David Pipe, and threatening to do the same for current yard; possible wind surgery since latest run will help, but risks there for all to see.

Stepped up on a couple of placed efforts when winning by 7L over this trip at Brighton, and finished clear of the rest when beaten a head by Maroc at Lingfield last time. Thriving, and sure to go close once more.

Has moved yards frequently, but good strike rate, and won twice more for John Long in June/July. Stepped up again when close third of 15 on debut for current yard at Newmarket last month, and return to longer trip should suit.

Maiden winner last spring, but subsequeny form for Dean Ivory was very patchy. Ran well when third at Lingfield in November, but well beaten twice since, including after an absence at same track for new yard, and now tried in a visor.

Best effort for current yard when 1¼L third to Sula Island at Chepstow in June, and hasn't shaped badly in two runs since (failed to stay last time). Tongue tie added to refitted hood now, and not dismissed.

Has generally held his form since winning over 1¼m at Chelmsford in March, and doing best work late when sixth of 11 there on latest start, shaping as if worth another try at this trip.

Forecasts

Zoffany Bay (5/2), Lyrica's Lion (11/4), Esprit De Baileys (4/1), Against The Odds (11/2), Lassana Angel (11/1), Vincent's Forever (16/1), Mazalto (16/1), Tilsworth Lukey (25/1), I'm Running Late (40/1)

Verdict

ZOFFANY BAY took his form up another notch despite being beaten at Lingfield last time, the first two finishing clear, and he looks certain to give another good account, which gives him the narrow vote over Lyrica's Lion, who boasts an excellent strike-rate in handicaps, and ran with credit against younger rivals last time. Against The Odds faces his easiest task in a while, and should be more competitive as a result.
  1. Zoffany Bay
  2. Lyrica's Lion
  3. Against The Odds
