Ended a long losing run at Kempton in March, but went missing subsequently until running down the field at Goodwood last month. Looked back in form despite not getting a clear run at Newmarket last time, and drops in class now. Interesting.

Rare runner for yard here, and he stepped up on his return when 2¾L fourth of 13 to Proud Archi over 7f at Thirsk last time. Return to 1m will suit, and this represents an ease in class.

Four wins this year have come on Fibresand at Southwell over 7f/1m, and he's been soundly beaten on turf at Goodwood on his last two starts.

Relished heavy ground and had fitness on his side when winning Spring Mile at Doncaster in March. Not in the same form in two subsequent outings, however, and returns from a break with something to prove.

Won three handicaps for current yard in 2017, and high in the weights to start new campaign. Took advantage of falling mark to score at Chepstow last month, and has benefit of top apprentice's claims as he bids to defy a 5lb rise.

Progressed to win three times on turf last year for Philip Hide, and back to form after a couple of pipe-openers when scoring at Kempton in May. Has since joined a thriving yard, and remains relatively unexposed.

Better known for AW exploits, but in good form on fast turf this summer, winning at Lingfield in June, and running well in defeat twice since. Bit below his best last time, though, and handicapper may have his measure now.

Consistent mare who was claimer ridden to win over this trip at Leicester in May, and ran well to be placed at Windsor the following month for Karen George. New hand on the tiller now, but she's still expected to run her usual solid race.

Gained first win over extended 1¼m at Haydock in May, and ran at least as well when placed over 1m1f at Newbury last time. Clearly in good heart, but further drop in trip not certain to suit.

Took advantage of a drop in the weights to win a 7-runner handicap at Haydock (1m, firm) last time by ½L from Ayutthaya, that his second start since being gelded, and his first in cheekpieces. Easier ground to cope with now, but may yet do better.

Remains a maiden, and all his runs have come on AW this year, but he handles turf, looked unlucky not to finish closer at Wolverhampton last time, and appeals as being on a potentially lenient mark. Considered.

Second over 1m at Goodwood in June, and not disgraced despite finishing last of 5 on handicap debut over 1¼m at Windsor. Ran poorly last time on AW debut, and needs to bounce back now.

Forecasts

Secret Return (3/1), Roller (5/1), No I'm Easy (11/2), Pheidippides (11/2), Dragons Voice (8/1), Kenstone (8/1), High Acclaim (11/1), Abel Tasman (16/1), Repton (20/1), Poetic Force (20/1), Contrive (25/1), Mister Music (50/1)

Verdict

An open race, with Pheidippides making appeal back on turf from the foot of the handicap, and Repton gradually working his way back to peak form and down in class. ROLLER is another who has been keeping better company, and he will appreciate the return to a mile; The ex-French gelding is taken to give Frankie Dettori and Mick Easterby a double on the card.
