Yet to win beyond 6f, but has run some good races in defeat over this trip, including when a neck second from this mark at Ayr last month. Acts on any ground with good in the description. Should be competitive.
Both his wins have been over this trip and on fast ground, the handicap success coming from 3lb lower at Musselburgh last season. Went close from this mark in the Carlisle Bell (1m) in June. Bot more needed, but not ruled out.
Scored at Ayr (6f, good) on his second start last year. Has shown improvement on a couple of occasions this term, his best effort being back there over 7f in June. 2lb lower here and not ruled out from good draw, with 7lb now also claimed.
Dual AW winner who is 0-9 on turf. Went close from 1lb higher at Goodwood in May. Should be competitive, but needs to improve on recent efforts to be winning this.
Scored on his third start at Thirsk (1m, good) in novices' company last month. Made favourite for handicap debut last time, but disappointed there. Same mark today, so has a bit to prove, but claims if he can bounce back.
Won a 6f maiden here on his reappearance in June and ran well over C&D last month, before scoring at Thirsk (7f, good to soft), when 5lb lower. Couldn't follow up under a penalty last time, but not ruled out back down to this trip.
Triple C&D winner last season, all on good to soft/soft ground. Back on his last winning mark again. Any further rain would be a boost, but has claims nonetheless.
Sole success came over this trip at Leicester (good) on his nursery debut from 8lb lower in 2016, when with Richard Hannon. Has run several good races in defeat for this trainer this season, including over C&D and has claims if at his best.
Both his turf wins have been on fast ground and neither of them this season, when he has been out of sorts. Best watched.
Sole success was in a 7f Chepstow maiden (good to soft) last September. Has run several good races on AW surfaces recently, but well held back on turf last time. Drops 3lb, but has a bit to prove on this surface.
Raced too freely when leading but then weakening to be beaten 14L on stable debut at Nottingham (1m2f, good to firm) recently. Drop back to this trip well worth a try, though does have a little to prove from this mark on handicap intro.
Forecasts
Raselasad (7/2), Our Charlie Brown (11/2), Magical Effect (7/1), Iron Sky (7/1), Regulator (15/2), Perisher (15/2), Portledge (9/1), Inner Circle (10/1), Side Effect (16/1), Katheefa (40/1), Tavener (100/1)
Several in here with claims. Magical Effect can again get involved, but his record suggests that he will find something too good and it looks worth giving another chance to PERISHER, who does need to bounce back after disappointing last time, but if he can, then he remains on a feasible mark. Raselasad, Regulator and Our Charlie Brown are others for whom cases can be made, while Side Effect is also of interest on her handicap debut, now dropped to this trip.
- Perisher
- Our Charlie Brown
- Side Effect
