Capitalised on a career-low mark when scoring at Kelso (2m2f, heavy) earlier in the year before running a couple of lack-lustre races at Perth. Returned to form last time out at the same track (3rd) and off the same mark here; front-runner.

Dual hurdles winner when first joining this yard last year and stays this trip well (won over further). Failed to fire fully on two starts back from a long absence recently; showed a little more with a tongue-tie (retained) refitted last time.

Looked to have benefitted from a stable switch when winning on debut for this yard over fences here on Saturday (won with a bit in hand). Now reverts to hurdles (pulled-up on only previous handicap over hurdles); 8lb higher in this sphere.

Modest form in bumpers with Sam Thomas he looks to have been brought along with handicaps in mind by his current yard. Given stiff tasks in most of his novice hurdles he now steps up in trip for his handicap debut.

Rejuvenated by his current handler he's unlucky not to be unbeaten over C&D having won on his first start for the yard (returned to form out of the blue) and then slipped badly when leading last time. Up a further 5lb but still a leading player.

Will enjoy this test far more than the 2m trips he's been kept to in his last two starts having shown what he was capable of when well supported at Bangor in April over 2m4f. May well have won but for a late mistake there; one to watch in the market.

Both his wins have come over C&D (in the same race) and off the same mark of 88 having not taken to chasing between those two efforts. Has been known to race rather lazily but does respond well to pressure; long absence to overcome (1212 at Cartmel).

Finally off the mark at Saturday's meeting (71st attempt) having shaped well on his two previous starts at Perth. Showed a good attitude to hold on for the victory but now faces a longer trip but goes unpenalised for that win; not without a chance.

Failed to really get going since arriving at her current yard from Philip Hobbs with her three runs all being rather underwhelming. Showed a little more with cheekpieces tried last time but the form still poor; dropped a further 3lb in the weights.

Produced one of her better hurdles efforts over C&D earlier in the year and she still looks well weighted on her Flat form. Ran respectably over (3m1f) here last time shaping as though a real test is what she needs; now takes a step back in distance.

Point-to-point winner on his only try in that sphere he shaped well in his only bumper but has shown little over hurdles in novice company (well held all starts). Now makes the switch to handicaps for a yard that do well here; note market support.

Age: 5|  Weight: 10-3| J: A Nicol| T: P A Kirby| OR:  77

Made little impact in his only bumper and so far has shown very little over hurdles for two different yards. Raced very freely last time out and has dropped rapidly down the handicap to a career-low mark in this.

Formerly a useful hurdler/chaser with Nicky Henderson (won a hurdle off a mark of 120) he now looks a light of former years. He's shown very little this summer in three outings (back over hurdles last time) and can't be recommended here.

Verdict

A competitive handicap hurdle albeit a low-grade one to end the season at Cartmel with two winner’s from Saturday’s card trying to follow-up in Toosey (back over hurdles) and Xpo Universel (over a longer trip); both look to have harder tasks. For Jim for the Candlish team is one to watch in the market as is Equus Pandora from last year’s winning stable (Peter Bowen) while What A Game bids to add to his already sound course record. JUSTATENNER looks to have the best credentials of all though having won over C&D and then looked rather unfortunate when slipping on the home turn here last time and only being defeated narrowly; he should be able to make amends off his new mark.
