Strong AW performer; awarded the Group 3 Winter Derby (1m2f, Lingfield) in February before finishing a closing ½L second to Victory Bond in the Easter Classic (Good Friday); fourth in this race in 2017 but plenty on with the burden of a 3lb penalty.
Progressed from major handicaps (Lincoln runner-up) to become a Group 1 and Group 2 performer; beaten 2L (third) by Lightning Spear in the 1m Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood latest, and this race rates as an ease in grade.
Beat the subsequent Group 2 Huxley Stakes winner Forest Ranger by ¾L when winning this race in 2017 (Master Of The World fourth); sole start in 2018 came when readily holding off four other rivals in a 1m2f Listed race at Sandown last month.
Blossomed since making a winning seasonal reappearance at Chelmsford in May (1m), adding further Class 2 handicap wins there and at Glorious Goodwood (form franked); has perfect conditions, but this race represents a step up in grade.
Capable performer on his day but his Listed and Group 3 wins (1m, Haydock/1m1f, Longchamp) have both come on heavy ground; finished last of ten after meeting continued trouble in the Group 1 St James's Palace Stakes (good to firm) in June.
Placed (20/1) on his maiden attempt in Group 3 company at Glorious Goodwood recently (1m, good to firm) and is open to further progress after just seven career starts; stays further (1m2f), but likely playing for places at best.
Shown a strong level of form all summer since finishing 5L third to Hunting Horn in the Group 3, 1m2f Hampton Court Stakes at Royal Ascot in June; stamina reserves questionable over 1m2f, so drop back to 1m looks helpful; cheekpieces applied.
Winner on both of her previous York starts (6f-1m), including in the Group 2 Lowther Stakes (juvenile), and is clearly versatile in terms of conditions. Found Group 1 races overly competitive, but also disappointing at this level (Goodwood) latest.

A competitive Group 3 to kick-off Ebor Saturday at York, with 2017 winner MUSTASHRY seeking a second straight success after making a most pleasing winning seasonal return at Sandown last month. His trainer Sir Michael Stoute will no doubt have him spot on for this race, and with natural progression anticipated he'll prove a tough nut to crack. However, the level of opposition that he faces this year is probably slightly stronger overall, with the eased in grade Lord Glitters a live threat based upon his level of progress throughout the current campaign, and the dropped in trip (reliable) Zaaki also a noteworthy combatant.

- Zaaki
