Made a winning debut when beating Sporting Chance a head in a 6f event at Kempton in June, and had excuses for failing to build on that at Chester next time. Can go well, though tough to concede penalty in this field.
Son of Dubawi looks a likely type on debut for Godolphin. Trainer has started to get his juveniles firing over the summer (7-22) and needs close monitoring on debut.
Street Sense colt out of an unraced mare, cost 575,000 gns earlier in the year. Promising start when third of nine in maiden at Newmarket (7f, soft) on debut 15 days ago, should be more to come.
Oasis Dream colt cost 40,000 gns as a foal, dam, German 1m2f winner, half-sister to smart winner up to 1m3f Calrissian. Interesting newcomer.
Kodiac gelding, still a maiden but placed in each of his last five outings, including last time out in decent Chester conditions race. Sets the standard on form and should break through soon.
Lethal Force half-brother to smart 5f-1m winner Belvoir Bay, and cost 115,000 gns last year. Beat just one rival home in big-field event at Newbury (7f, good to firm) on debut 36 days ago.
Kodiac colt, cost 170,000 gns as a yearling, finished eighth of 11 in maiden at Goodwood (6f, good) on debut 25 days ago, given chance to learn. Should progress, one for the longer term perhaps.
Home-bred Havana Gold filly from a family that have served this trainer/owner/breeder well. Last of four in maiden at Chepstow (6f, good to firm) on debut this month having missed the break.
Wootton Bassett filly, cost €60,000 as a yearling and €250,000 as a Breeze-up purchase, half-sister to two winners. Third of 11 in maiden at Goodwood (7f, good) this month on second start, should continue to progress.
Forecasts
Bye Bye Hong Kong (2/1), Lady Cosette (9/4), Finoah (5/1), Rhydwyn (13/2), Typhoon Ten (9/1), Alfurat River (12/1), Catan (20/1), Global Army (40/1), Gilt Edge (80/1)
Richard Hannon and Tom Marquand combined to win this race 12 months ago and have claims again with AW winner Typhoon Ten. Conceding a penalty to some promising types might be asking too much for him however. FINOAH has been running consistently well and sets the standard, he might well get his breakthrough this evening, though both the filly Lady Cosette and Bye Bye Hong Kong are greatly feared. Any strong support behind Alfurat River or Catan would have to be noted.
- Finoah
- Lady Cosette
- Bye Bye Hong Kong
