Ran well on handicap debut at Goodwood when only beaten a neck in a four-runner contest. Not as good next time in a better race and needs to bounce back but this is slightly easier.
Son of Mastercraftsmen who won his first two starts. Ran well on handicap debut at Ascot (1m2f, good to firm) last time when shaping as if this longer trip would really suit. Progressive youngster who will be a major player once again.
Won here on debut over 1 mile but has been largely inconsistent since. May need some assistance from the handicapper before becoming of interest for win purposes.
The combination of a hood for the first time and getting a soft lead resulted in an emphatic success at Windsor (1m3½f, good to firm) last time. Hit with a 9lb rise in the weights for that and that may be enough to halt his progress.
Won well on second start in a handicap at Doncaster (1m2f, good). Not sure he's in love with the surface at Chelmsford so can be forgiven his follow-up effort under a 6lb penalty. This trip should suit and will be a leading player.
Won two on the bounce off marks of 64 & 70. Found this mark too much when stepped up in class last time and likely to find this equally as difficult.
Forecasts
Extra Elusive (7/4), Occupy (7/4), Rapier (8/1), Pippin (10/1), Bartholomeu Dias (10/1), We Know (12/1)
EXTRA ELUSIVE is a lightly raced colt that still has untapped potential. Things didn't quite go his well at Ascot and this step up in trip should really suit. He should be pretty tough to beat. Rapier is another who still has improvement in the locker upped in trip and can chase the selection home.
