Dual winner this year who will be suited by the return to slower conditions off a more favourable mark. Has been running over further but back to his winning trip so cannot be dismissed despite topweight.

Gelded and moved stables since a dismal effort at Lingfield in February. Hard to fancy on what he has shown and the market is usually a good guide to this yard's runners.

Had little chance with an enterprisingly ridden pair on stable debut two weeks ago. Gave every indication it would only be a matter of time before his capable handler places him to advantage.

Visor on for the first-time and positively ridden for the first-time this season those two factors produced a much better performance last time out. Still to win a race and that run only came in selling company.

Peaked with a Wetherby success on seasonal return when clearly suited by give in the ground. Below that form since but handicapper is giving him little respite. Hood tried this time and back to his winning distance.

No better than fairly handicapped but he looked backward as a juvenile. Highly tried on return and failed to stay 1m2f when well-backed on handicap debut. Off four months since but this looks a good opportunity if the market indicates he's ready.

Still looked backward on penultimate start when he missed the break and was in the wrong place when the tempo increased. Did well to finish third that day and he has since failed to stay 1m2f at Pontefract. Has to enter the reckoning.

12-race maiden who runs to a consistent level and his latest Thirsk third got a boost when the winner scored again on Saturday. Should be thereabouts once more.

Finished third in a Chester contest in May at odds of 125/1 which saw him get a stiff hike in the weights. Mark is dropping having failed to match that performance since and probably has further to fall.

16-race maiden has bits and pieces of form that would give him a chance at these weights. However, last week's Yarmouth run made him look a difficult customer.

Form looks somewhat inconsistent but his best performances have come with some give in the ground. Still 3lb above his winning mark.

15-race maiden claimed out of Mick Channon's yard after finishing second in a Thirsk seller when just ahead of Here In The Dark. Not certain to stay 1m on a demanding track like this.

Forecasts

Make Me (9/2), Poet's Pride (5/1), Bee Machine (5/1), Mearing (7/1), Duba Plains (7/1), Odds On Oli (8/1), Al Ozzdi (14/1), Foxrush Take Time (14/1), Here In The Dark (16/1), Rockesbury (16/1), Highland Bobby (25/1), Rose Tinted Spirit (40/1)

Verdict

Most of these hold few secrets from the handicapper but MAKE ME and Poet's Pride have scope to do better than they have shown. The latter was a backward juvenile who ran to his current mark on debut. There have been excuses for him since, but he would appear to have a lot going for him here if ready following a four month break. The selection is another with untapped potential who showed promise despite looking clueless in his first few starts. There were positive signs two runs ago before he failed to stay the stiff 1m2f at Pontefract. This looks a more suitable test and the handicapper has given him a chance to shine.
  1. Make Me
  2. Poet's Pride
  3. Mearing
