Has some useful form to his name in handicaps in the past but appears to be below his best this year; rather lost his way of late. Handicapper keeps giving him a chance and this will be his first run in a 0-75; well weighted if he found his form.
Front-runner who went off too hard last time compromising his chance and needs to be ridden with a little more restraint. Only 1lb above his last winning mark now and would be a threat if granted an unopposed lead.
Maiden who is proving to be a rather inconsistent sort (tried in blinkers once) and underlined that point last time when running poorly having looked to be going the right way the time before. Now off a career-low mark but not a sound proposition.
Consistent sort who keeps finishing close-up in his races without looking like winning and is proving an expensive one to keep faith in. Did all his best work late on when finishing 2nd again last time; may need a little further than this 5f.
Managed to end a long losing run when taking a handicap on the AW (made all) over 5f on his penultimate start. Ran respectably up in grade last time and goes off the same mark here having already been a C&D winner.
Placed twice over C&D and a dual AW winner earlier in the year off slightly lower marks he returned to form here last time on softer ground. Did well to hold onto 2nd place after contesting a strong pace; faces a similar scenario here.
Forecasts
Spanish Star (2/1), Entertaining Ben (5/2), Union Rose (9/2), Haylah (13/2), Sandfrankskipsgo (8/1), Hurricane Alert (12/1)
There’s a likelihood that this will be strongly run with a few in this known pace pushers and that could set the race up for a closer like SPANISH STAR who whilst hard to win with has proved consistent and stays a little bit further. Entertaining Ben and Sandfrankskipsgo are two that will go from the front and that could lead to the former going off too hard again while Hurricane Alert could also get drawn into that scenario. That situation didn’t help him last time and it may well be the same case in this 5f dash.
- Spanish Star
- Hurricane Alert
- Sandfrankskipsgo
