Full sister to a couple of low-grade winners but ran well on debut at Ascot, throwing down a challenge in the final furlong before weakening. That sets the standard and she may well improve, so looks one for the shortlist.

First foal; breeding suggests we won't see the bets of her until tackling further but she's shown plenty of ability in two starts and has come up against some smart sorts. Can't be ruled out here.

Mix of speed and stamina in the pedigree, and she looks ready for a step up to 7f after two solid efforts at six so far. Possibly did too much too soon last time as well, and if ridden more patiently, could improve again.

Cost €140,00 gns as a yearling, related to some very useful Group-placed types and will have learnt plenty from her Newbury debut where she ran respectably for fourth. No surprise if she takes a big step forward here.

Half-sister to the speedy Solar Flair, amongst others, and almost made a wining debut at Bath in May when just finding the wining post coming too soon. However, very disappointing at short odds latest and now tried in a hood.

Shown little in two starts and certainly nowhere near enough to be considered the winner here. Needs this for a handicap mark.

Dirt pedigree, so may well enjoy this surface. Never really in the hunt on debut at Newbury last month but a few things went wrong there, and she looked green late on. Should improve for the experience.

Dam a half-sister to useful sprinter Duke Of Firenze, but there's stamina in the breeding as well. Looked in need of the experience at Newmarket on debut (finished behind Gallic) and should improve with time.
Half-sister to Group placed Gavota (also trained by Charlton) but hasn't shown much in two starts and simply looks to need time.

Was getting the hang of things late at Newbury last time and this extra furlong will definitely suit on breeding, needs more but that's not impossible and yard have had a couple of big-priced winners recently.

Forecasts

Farnham (11/4), I Am Magical (7/2), Belle Chanel (9/2), Gallic (5/1), Querelle (7/1), Khibrah (7/1), Winter Gleam (8/1), New Queen (9/1), Romola (10/1), Brassica (12/1), Tatsia (14/1), Perfectly (40/1)

Verdict

Plenty of likely improvers and the market will no doubt prove informative, but BELLE CHANEL makes the most appeal after a very solid debut at Ascot. She should come on for that and from a decent draw, can take this. Querelle should enjoy this test and may leave her debut effort well behind, and Gallic makes some appeal despite a pedigree that suggests she'll want further than this.
  1. Belle Chanel
  2. Querelle
  3. Gallic
