Has shown promise in both of his turf starts in novice events at Newmarket. Will probably need a bit of improvement to defy this initial mark now switched to this sphere, but top pilot booked and he could have a big say.
Best of his three novice runs was his second, over 7f at Chester in June. Would certainly have a squeak from this initial mark if able to replicate or better that, and should not be inconvenienced by this drop in trip. Interesting.
Improving with each run, though yet to get in a serious blow on novice events. Mark looks a little bit stiff given that, but 7lb claimed here on his nursery debut, so not written off.
Inconsistent so far, with good efforts on debut at Bath (5½f, firm) and then on his third start at Hamilton (6f, soft). Beaten 17L into last on nursery debut at Chester (7f) latest. 2lb drop here, but claims if back to the form of his best efforts.
Has shown some promise and finished 12½L ahead of Yellow Fire at Chester on his nursery debut last time. Drops 1lb here and, while a literal interpretation of that form would probably be inaccurate, he merits plenty of respect.
Latest effort was an improvement on her previous two, despite finishing last, and that was not without promise. Needs improvement from this mark on her nursery debut, but another who can't be written off.
Three moderate efforts so far and this looks a stiff enough task on her first start in this sphere.
Forecasts
Strawberry Jack (2/1), One To Go (5/2), Firewater (6/1), Dr Smolder (7/1), Kenoughty (11/1), Hallalulu (16/1), Singe Du Nord (16/1), Yellow Fire (25/1)
This looks open on paper, with most of the field on their nursery debut. STRAWBERRY JACK makes appeal, given the promise that he has shown and having given the impression that he may be capable of sufficient improvement to defy this initial mark. One To Go should be more competitive than last time and could get involved, with Yellow Fire feared if back to his best and Firewater also considered.
