Always looks the sort for whom events need to drop right during a race and having been first past the post over C&D in May (disqualified) he deserved his Carlisle win. Two contrasting performances since and needs to bounce back from a below-par run.

Dual AW winner and although he's yet to win this year he has looked as though he might/should have on a couple of occasions. Second over C&D last time it is a question of catching him right and a race falling his way.

Placed on multiple occasions here and often travels well in his races but is 0-30 at 6f+ and has disappointed with his finishing effort a fair few times. Now runs without any headgear for the first time in ages; very inconsistent.

Connections give him a try over 6f but he's always looked a better performer at the minimum trip; runner-up at that trip twice recently. Well drawn here (stall 2) but hard not to have doubts about him getting home here.

Previously with Richard Hannon (only won once for that yard) she's still struggling to find his form for new connections. Quickly dropped in grade to a 0-60 which may help although a wide draw may well negate that class drop.

Hardly allowed to rest on his laurels this year (this will be his 19th run) and below-par on his last two starts but the type who can bounce back quickly. Features on a good mark given his turf form last year but 6f tends to stretch his stamina.

Maiden and looks fairly exposed now but did run a sound enough race last time over this trip at Ripon from 5lb out of the handicap. Off his proper mark now and well drawn it remains to be seen if he can build on that start given his overall CV.

Twice a C&D winner (handed one race in the steward's room) and took a seller off her own bat recently. Looked a touch unlucky at Redcar last time over 6f (didn't really get the run of the race) and well drawn off the same mark to make an impression.

On a long losing run and really just looks to be going through the motions most of the time and hardly a solid proposition. The return to this grade will be a help but the wide draw won't be and others make more appeal.

Faced a tough task from out of the handicap last time and won't find things any easier now with a wide draw also to contend with. A career record of 0-15 hardly inspires and she's passed over again.

Not an easy type to win with and its two years now since he last passed the post in front. Ran a typically lack-lustre race last week at Redcar and not one to be that interested in even in this grade.

Yard have been in good form of late and there have been glimpses if only small ones of ability on the AW earlier in the year. Now back from a break with a wind op looking to be her hope of showing some improved form.

Forecasts

Crosse Fire (7/2), Young Tiger (4/1), Extrasolar (9/2), Nifty Niece (7/1), Silk Mill Blue (15/2), Pavers Pride (8/1), Picks Pinta (16/1), Windforpower (20/1), Ideal Spirit (22/1), A J Cook (33/1), Campion (40/1), Lambrini Legacy (100/1)

Verdict

Hardly a race that sets the pulse racing and it probably provides NIFTY NIECE with a good opportunity as she returns to her favourite venue over a trip that suits her well. Young Tiger isn’t the most consistent but he does have more ability than most of these if he gets the run of the race while Extrasolar ought to be able to hold his own here being a past C&D winner. Most of the others are hard to recommend for win purposes although Campion could be well handicapped if she can overcome her wide draw and she’s still not that exposed in handicaps.
  1. Nifty Niece
  2. Young Tiger
  3. Extrasolar
