Both of his turf wins have come under the same amateur (won his first turf race at an advanced age) although she doesn't ride him here. Carries a 6lb penalty for his last win and has proved in the past he stays this trip; looks capable off this mark.

Winner of two similar events since returning from a break at Hamilton and Haydock under today's rider. Failed to settle when 6th behind Luv U Whatever at Newbury over 1m4f last time but likely to remain in form for an event like this.

Landed a gamble and confirmed that he still had some life left in him when with blinkers back on he took a comparable event at Ripon in June; 4lb lower mark. Not in quite the same form last time (given plenty to do) but not out of this at all.

Like several switched to this yard showed the benefits straight away with a win in a Catterick amateur handicap over 1m4f making use of a much reduced mark. Handled very competently by today's pilot then and still well weighted on his old form.

All of his best form prior to his win last time out had come on the AW (Fibresand) but he finally took advantage of a much lower mark to win on turf (1m6f). Did well to win in the context of the race (run at a muddling pace); same mark here.

Quirky character who isn't an easy ride but managed to end a long losing run over 1m4f here in June off a 1lb lower mark (beat some equally erratic types). Underlined his inconsistency and unreliable nature with two defeats since that last victory.

Modest maiden on the Flat (0-10) who gets rare spin on Flat here on turf having been far from disgraced on the AW last time. That wasn't a strong piece of form though and given his overall record he would have to improve to make an impression.

Winner over 1m6f at Redcar last year he then ran unpenalised in this race but appeared to find the track/trip a little sharp. Now runs from out of the handicap off a reduced mark but given his last run here others make more appeal.

Gained his first win for ages when taking an AW 1m2f seller back in April off the back of a break but hasn't shown anything like that form since then. Well beaten at Catterick last time (behind Buyer Beware) and hard to fashion a case for him here.

Formerly with Tom Dascombe he showed little there and the change of stable hasn't produced anything better so far. Beaten just four rivals home in four starts for his current connections and can only be watched.

Remains a maiden and hasn't really shown anything for this yard that would make him worthy of consideration in this. Well out of the handicap (6lb) and not one to rely on here.

Forecasts

Buyer Beware (9/4), Itlaaq (3/1), Luv U Whatever (5/1), New Abbey Angel (5/1), Tynecastle Park (7/1), The Resdev Way (12/1), Duke Of Yorkshire (14/1), Falcon's Fire (16/1), Midnight Warrior (20/1), Enemy Of The State (28/1), Down Time (66/1), Bulge Bracket (100/1)

Verdict

A relatively strong event of its type with a few that come here in decent form and BUYER BEWARE looks the pick of them especially with his rider (Dylan McDonagh) having impressed with his handling of his mount last time. Luv U Whatever has finally found the secret of winning on turf and rates a danger along with Itlaaq and Duke Of Yorkshire as long as that one settles a little better this time around. The Redsev Way is worth a mention as he runs off the same mark as successful last time although the suspicion remains that he’s better on the AW.
