Ran well in a couple of Group 2 races as a juvenile and won a Listed race in Meydan this winter. Respectable effort on his return at Newmarket last time and likely to take a big step forward from that. Interesting runner.
Has won three times already this year but handicapper has seemingly caught up with him and shaped like he didn't stay on a previous attempt further than 1m.
Won at Newmarket on second juvenile start. Has struggled to land a blow in four starts this year though and very disappointing at Newmarket last time when tailed off. Not always the quickest away, as seen that day and others preferred.
Produced a career best at Newmarket last time out when landing a valuable handicap and that form has a strong look to it. Only 5lb higher here and yard have a fine record at this meeting. Leading claims.
Won on his return to turf at Redcar and went closing to following up in a valuable Haydock handicap in May. Well below what he's capable of at Royal Ascot last time but worth giving another chance to for a yard in flying form.
A winner of two of his three starts, most recently justifying odds-on favouritism at Windsor in good fashion. Handicapper hasn't taken any chances with his mark but more improvement likely.
Won his final start as a juvenile and has been unlucky not to get his head in front on either run this year. Has shaped like he will appreciate the step up in trip before and likely to go well here.
Won at Ripon in April but just struggling a little from his revised mark since and may want some cut in the ground before he's seen at his best again.
Won on the AW this winter and has returned to turf in good form this year. Has shaped like he will appreciate this step up in trip in his wins at Lingfield and Haydock and can't be ruled out.
Won two of his three starts for Kevin Ryan, most recently at Thirsk last month. Plenty to like about that win and more to come up in trip here for a yard in good form at present.
Just a maiden win to his name from seven starts but his effort last time out at Sandown was more encouraging when stepped up in trip. Up just 1lb for that and the third won the opener here on Tuesday. Should run well.
Course winner two starts back and not disgraced here last time when probably given too much to do. Likely to get a strong pace to aim at here and goes on any ground; can't be ruled out if the step up in trip can eke out some improvement.
Forecasts
Communique (7/2), Rock Eagle (6/1), Al Jellaby (13/2), Bathsheba Bay (8/1), New Show (9/1), Maverick Officer (10/1), Zaman (12/1), Completion (12/1), Ventura Knight (14/1), Crownthorpe (16/1), Sing Out Loud (16/1), Global Giant (25/1)
BATHSHEBA BAY looks feasibly handicapped after the form of his recent second was done a favour on the opening day of the meeting and he ran well at this meeting last year. Zaman was a classy juvenile who should benefit from his reappearance last time out. Al Jellaby is one who should benefit from the step up in trip and has been unlucky not to win already this year.
- Bathsheba Bay
- Zaman
- Al Jellaby
