Improved significantly since winning a Class 5 5.5f handicap at Brighton in May, with subsequent form figures reading; 1,3,2,2. Likely to go out all guns blazing from the outset as when beaten just under 2L by Nine Below Zero at Bath (5f) in June.
Notched an AW hat-trick in February and March (all over 5f), but his progress has seemingly slowed a fraction since; some promise on his penultimate start at Windsor, but poor latest and dropped 2lb accordingly.
Disappointing when seeking to land the hat-trick at Windsor (5f) earlier this month finishing last of five to Puds (Grandfather Tom third); just 2lb above her last winning mark, but is likely to face plenty of competition for the early lead.
Left her 2018 form behind when capitalising on a reduced mark to win under hands and heels riding (beat Wiff Waff) over C&D last week; competes under a 6lb penalty (only due a 5lb rise).
AW regular (2 from 10) with a sharp turn of foot, but remains a maiden on turf (0 from 6); 6lb better off with recent C&D conqueror Revived (for 1L), so that promises to bring the pair much closer together today.
Back to the level of the pick of his juvenile form of late, winning by 1L over C&D in June (Wiff Waff sixth); narrowly beaten under a penalty off this mark latest, but went down fighting, so holds fair claims.
Forecasts
Revived (6/4), Crystal Deauville (3/1), Wiff Waff (5/1), Kodiac Express (11/2), Haveoneyerself (10/1), Grandfather Tom (16/1)
A trappy sprint in which plenty depends upon who is able to force the early pace. Kodiac Express likes to get on with things from the outset, as does Crystal Deauville, so an anticipated burn up could set this race up nicely for a late closer. Revived was comfortably on top of WIFF WAFF over C&D last week, but carries a 6lb penalty (for 1L), and whilst the latter remains win-less on turf, the suspicion is that he'll be able to utilise his sharp turn of foot late in this contest and could feasibly have just enough in the locker to improve past the Michael Bell-trained charge.
- Wiff Waff
- Revived
- Haveoneyerself
