5lb higher than when a winner in this grade over C&D (good to firm) in May - form tested by Royal Duchess in Division 1 - has continued to acquit himself well since, finishing runner-up at Wolverhampton (7f) latest.
C&D winner in October 2016 (soft), and knocking at the door at Carlisle (goes well there) on more than one occasion since, including when finishing 2½L third to Uncle Charlie in June (7f, good).
C&D winner off this mark in August 2017, and made all to score on soft ground at Musselburgh in October; no joy so far in 2018, backing out of things tamely when finishing last of eight over C&D 15-days ago.
Infrequent winner (not since July 2017), but a 7f-1m regular in Class 5 handicaps in 2018, so could appreciate this slight ease in grade if the first-time blinkers have a galvanising effect.
Close up third off this mark at Nottingham (1m+) on his last turf start in November 2017, but has left David O'Meara since lining up on the AW at Newcastle in January; tough task on stable debut off a six-month absence.
Possibly needs some give in the ground these days, and was a winner off this mark at Thirsk (7f, good to soft) in April; risky in light of his subsequent lesser efforts (7f-1m on good or good to firm ground).
Back to form with an unexpected C&D win earlier this month (24 hours on from a spin over 1m2f), beating today's rival I Am Dandy by a head (form tested by Robben Rainbow in Division 1); more to do off 3lb higher.
Veteran who has lost his way since a fair effort over C&D in May; finished a poor third in a 7½f seller at Beverley (good to firm) earlier this month, so shouldn't be good enough on that form.
Just the one win in 29 starts, but that was at this track (6f) in July 2017; has also run some reasonable enough races in defeat here (5f-6f), but this trip is an unknown, and the blinkers need to bring about more improvement.
Stablemate of Cheeni who as an eight-time course winner (has never won elsewhere) knows his way around here blindfolded; no win for the best part of 14 months now, and whilst slipping massively in the weights, doesn't look to be the force of old.
Closely matched with Stardrifter on recent C&D form, and whilst still a maiden after 11 starts, that narrow defeat (caught close home) was his strongest single piece of form; riders 3lb claim an obvious plus.
Forecasts
Mischief Managed (6/4), Reinforced (9/2), I Am Dandy (13/2), Acadian Angel (7/1), Stardrifter (12/1), Harbour Patrol (14/1), Chiswick Bey (18/1), Inglorious (25/1), Cheeni (25/1), Ingleby Angel (33/1), Goninodaethat (40/1)
Possibly the weaker of the two divisions of this 7f Class 6 handicap in which old foes I Am Dandy and Stardrifter renew acquaintances. The former can be fancied to extract his revenge on the latter under the able handling of 3lb claimer Jamie Gormley, but the top-weight MISCHIEF MANAGED is preferred. The Tim Easterby-trained four-year-old was a C&D winner in this grade from a 5lb lower mark in May, and has held his form well since, including when finishing second at Wolverhampton latest.
- Mischief Managed
- I Am Dandy
- Stardrifter
