Cost 32,00 gns and as a half-brother to a couple of 6f winners appeals on pedigree over this trip. Yard always respected at this course and the Mayson colt has to merit a place on the shortlist.
Two starts at Ripon read as ordinary form but at least has an edge over a few of the others in terms of experience. Likely to do better when going handicapping but no forlorn hope of making the frame if capable of upping his game this time.
Cost €42,000 and already gelded prior to making an eye-catching debut (over 7f) at Haydock at the start of this month. That form looks solid and arguably sets the standard for the time being. Big chance if dropping back a furlong isn't an issue.
Related to a handful of fair sprinters and from a highly respected yard. Does look the stable's second string on jockey bookings but worth a betting check nonetheless.
Sales price rose to £10,000 and is a half-brother to five winners (from 5f up to 7f). Yard not really synonymous with first-time out winners but has been in good form, so the colt would have to merit a second look if attracting support the betting.
Never a factor when fifth of seven on debut at Beverley earlier in the month and already has improvement to find. Others more readily preferred on that evidence.
Posted a very modest effort on debut at Wetherby and also lacked sparkle when fourth of five at Beverley last month. Another that needs to step up considerably on what he's shown so far. A crack at a longer trip may also suit before too long.
Pedigree and form of two starts so far suggest the filly will do better when tacking at least a mile. However, it's possible she has more to offer and, as a stablemate of Dreamseller, the betting can guide as to any anticipated improvement.
Cost £7,000 at the sales and is a half-sister to winners in Italy and France. Breeding and a poor effort on debut suggest she needs more of a test of stamina and bit more experience before she can be recommended with any sort of confidence.
Well beaten in both previous starts (both at Beverley) and difficult to suggest the daughter of Poet's Voice can find the requisite improvement to pull this out of the fire. Stiff test ahead.
Forecasts
Hot Team (8/13), Collegian (4/1), Metallic Black (9/2), Our Boy Zeus (12/1), Dreamseller (14/1), Good Looker (25/1), Forcetoreckon (33/1), Melgate Majeure (50/1), Poet's Delight (50/1), Northern Footsteps (100/1)
HOT TEAM and Collegian look the safest options in an ordinary novices auction, with the former making the most appeal on the available evidence. The colt made a pleasing start at Haydock earlier in the month and, as the step down to 6f is countered by the stiff nature of this course, the Zoffany colt may be hard to master if he breaks on terms this time. Collegian represents powerful connections and, with the assistance of Paul Hannagan, makes more appeal than stablemate, Metallic Block, who is bred to be more effective over the minimum trip and may be one for the future. Dreamseller already has improvement to find but appeals as the best of the rest.
