A more than useful hurdler who landed two Lingfield stayers handicaps in similar company during the spring. Had a bit in hand last time and, given a hurdle rating of 140, there is probably plenty more to come.
Should probably have two marks, one for Southwell and the other for elsewhere. Enjoyed a productive winter but back from an absence and a while since he has been competitive from this type of mark.
Former Nicky Henderson runner who won five times under all codes. Needs a stiff test of stamina however his comeback run was underwhelming.
Very progressive last year and dropped to a more workable mark on her penultimate start. That effort has just pushed her rating back into territory where she is less competitive.
Winner of a weak Catterick maiden (1m4f) last year and has also gone close in a bumper. They are the highlights in a chequered career that provides more questions than answers.
Proving hard to win with but she seems honest enough. Tackles another new trip on a course where she has made the frame on each occasion she has raced here.
Overcame trouble in running to score at Lingfield, but his luck ran out here next time. In a stronger race this time but still hard to ignore his presence.
15-race maiden is stuck in a rut and now faces opponents proven to be in better shape. Hard to make a case for.
Remains a maiden on the Flat after 24 starts. Mark is still falling, but there are more attractive propositions.
Dual winning hurdler who is a 13-race Flat maiden. Figures on a handy mark, however, and this will be just the second time he has gone this far on the level. May offer each-way value having put in good late work at Nottingham (1m6f).
Has C&D form but off the track 15 months and trainer struggling to get winners. This looks a decent race for the grade and he looks opposable.
Forecasts
Cliffs Of Dover (5/4), The Way You Dance (5/1), Rainbow Rising (6/1), Paddys Runner (13/2), Graceful Lady (9/1), Ardamir (12/1), State Sovereignty (33/1), Courtesy Call (33/1), Cousin Khee (33/1), Tasty Ginger (33/1), Togetherness (33/1)
Team Nicholls have found another good opportunity for CLIFFS OF DOVER who has comfortably landed two AW races this year. The progress he has made since going hurdling is not reflected in a Flat mark which is built on previous exploits and he is probably still a long way ahead of the handicapper. Paddys Runner looked ready for this sort of test last time and his previous over the trip was a solid placed effort in better company than this at Newmarket. Rainbow Rising and The Way You Dance are other place possibilities, but the remainder make little appeal.
- Cliffs Of Dover
- Paddys Runner
- Rainbow Rising
