Took advantage of a drop in the weights when winning seven-runner event at Hamilton on Monday over an extended-mile. Carries a 6lb penalty for that win but remains capable upped in distance.
Won just once in 15 starts, when springing an 80/1 shock at Thirsk (1m4f) in July 2017. Poor in both runs this term and safer to overlook for now despite cheekpieces going on.
Has winning form over the C&D and was just denied here 16 days ago in amateur riders' event over this trip. Should go close on that evidence.
Some good recent efforts on turf, though was poor on Newcastle's AW 10 days ago and has a major question-mark against his name over this longer trip.
A 13-race maiden, he performed admirably to be a neck second over this trip at Down Royal last month having gone off a 33/1 chance. Is by no means certain to repeat that now, but he'll go close if he does.
Shed maiden status when landing 1m1f handicap at Carlisle last month, and looked shade unlucky when fourth of 14 to Thorntoun Care in amateur event at this track last time, meeting trouble in the run. One to consider.
Showed some promise on her Dundalk debut on the AW, but she has shown little in either start for this yard. Makes her handicap in modest company off a basement mark, but one that befits her most recent efforts.
A 14-race maiden with little in the formbook to believe he can make the breakthrough on first outing for 146 days.
Doesn't look the most straightforward and has been easily swatted aside in both starts this term despite a decreasing handicap mark. Needs significant improvement.
Forecasts
Palindrome (3/1), Natajack (3/1), Haymarket (10/3), Lucky Red (8/1), Lukoutoldmakezebak (8/1), Island Song (12/1), Hayward Field (18/1), Cuillin Hills (33/1), Breton Blues (66/1)
PAILINDROME earns the call in a tough contest. The Poet's Voice gelding shed his maiden tag last month at Carlisle and, while disappointing next time at Beverley, he since looked an unlucky loser over this C&D when close fourth having been denied a run at a vital stage. Monday's Hamilton winner Natajack isn't overlooked easily despite carrying a penalty while Lucky Red will have every chance with a repeat of his Down Royal effort last time, though he isn't the most reliable ensuring Haymarket, second her last time and a former C&D winner, may be a more solid choice.
- Palindrome
- Natajack
- Haymarket
