4/1
Dark Angel colt who has made the frame on all three starts to date, and while he failed to land the odds at Bath last time, the first two came clear. Entitled to maximum respect.

Horse silk
Finoah21
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-6| J: Alistair Rawlinson| T: Tom Dascombe| OR:  78
7/1
Best effort when beaten narrowly over 6f at Wolverhampton on penultimate outing, but a bit below that level when third at Nottingham last time. Raced freely there, and must settle better to defy opening mark.

(8)
Horse silk
Luchador15
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: D Tudhope| T: A Watson| OR:  72
11/2
Put experience to good use when landing 5f maiden at Thirsk in May, and out of her depth in Queen Mary at Royal Ascot last time. Steps up in trip for nursery bow, and claims if improving for extra yardage.

Dancing Speed20
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-12| J: Tom Marquand| T: R Hannon| OR:  70
14/1
Shaped quite well on debut at Windsor in May, but only able to run to a similar level on both starts since, and needs to finish his race off with more gusto if he's to make a winning start in nurseries.

Solesmes25
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-11| J: David Egan| T: M R Channon| OR:  69
14/1
Made little impact on first three starts, but drop to selling company saw her break her duck at Goodwood last time. This is tougher, and that form has taken a couple of knocks since.

Triple One20
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-10| J: J Fanning| T: M L W Bell| OR:  68
22/1
By Toronado out of a half-sister to Prix de La Foret winner Toylsome. Best effort to date when third to Balata Bay at Chepstow last time, and likely to do better still, so considered.
7
(9)
Horse silk
Five Helmets19
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-10| J: R Kingscote| T: Tom Dascombe| OR:  68
5/1
Has progressed with each qualifying run, and latest fourth to Marie's Diamond at Chester looks quite solid. Gelded since, and entitled to improve again.
8

Horse silk
Ventura Bay19
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-10| J: P Hanagan| T: R A Fahey| OR:  68
7/1
Well beaten on debut, but has improved since, and just ahead of Five Helmets when 5L third of 11 to Marie's Diamond at Chester last time. Yard has a good record in nurseries, and he is shortlisted here.

Horse silk
Leoube16
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-8| J: S De Sousa| T: R Hannon| OR:  66
6/1
Bettered debut form when fifth of 11 over 5f at Windsor last month, but below that form stepped up to this trip on her latest start. Needs to see things out better, but open to improvement.

Bouncin Back38
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-7| J: Rowan Scott(3)| T: N Tinkler| OR:  65
40/1
Just modest form when fifth of 15 in a novice auction at Redcar in May, but not beaten far, and yard has good record in handicaps this year. Worth a look in the market.

Juniors Fantasy16
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-0| J: J P Sullivan| T: T D Easterby| OR:  58
20/1
Best effort when fifth to subsequent Chesham Stakes second Nate The Great at Carlisle, and may have failed to stay when below that form over extended 7f last time. Could go well at a price.

Horse silk
Tobeeornottobee14
Age: 2|  Weight: 8-0| J: Cam Hardie| T: D Carroll| OR:  53
66/1
Some promise when mid-field on debut at Redcar, but gone backwards from that, and looks on a stiff mark for nurseries even on the pick of his form.

Forecasts

High Horse (4/1), Five Helmets (5/1), Luchador (11/2), Leoube (6/1), Finoah (7/1), Ventura Bay (7/1), Solesmes (14/1), Dancing Speed (14/1), Juniors Fantasy (20/1), Triple One (22/1), Bouncin Back (40/1), Tobeeornottobee (66/1)

Verdict

The old adage to stick with top-weights in nurseries may not be as valid as it once was, but HIGH HORSE is not overburdened on what he's achieved to date, and may be up to defying his burden. Ventura Bay and Five Helmets were separated by a whisker at Chester last time, and with that form working out, head the list of possible dangers. Juniors Fantasy makes longshot appeal having had excuses last time.
  1. High Horse
  2. Ventura Bay
  3. Five Helmets
