Runner-up in a valuable handicap at Ascot around this time last year but has been out of form since and failed to land any sort of blow in Meydan this winter. Entitled to need this run on return.
Too keen when fading into last at Newmarket last time out but had been in good form prior to that run with a string of placed efforts. Never won off a mark this high but not discounted in a winnable race.
Very inconsistent sort. Got his head back in front for the first time since 2014 at Doncaster in May but hasn't backed that up in two subsequent efforts and others preferred.
Becoming very well-handicapped on old form and ran a big race here on return to turf in April. Disappointed back here last time when slow to break but he should appreciate the nature of this race and may be able to bounce back.
Just one win since his debut when winning on firm ground at Bath last year. Handicapper has been slow to relent subsequently though and looks in need of a drop in the weights.
Forecasts
Polybius (2/1), Baron Bolt (11/4), Boom The Groom (7/2), Watchable (9/2), Handytalk (8/1)
BOOM THE GROOM may find it easier to dominate this small field than his recent assignments and he's taken to get his head back in front at a course he's run well at before. Baron Bolt isn't dismissed and is generally a consistent sort. The same can not be said for Watchable but he's certainly not out of this if he arrives in the same sort of form that saw him win at Doncaster.
- Boom The Groom
- Baron Bolt
- Watchable
