More effective on AW than turf but fast ground will help on that front and he's a C&D winner on this sort of ground. Has never won from a mark this high but he's consistent and has each-way claims.
Won a Leicester claimer for Mark Johnston just over a year ago. Inconsistent over hurdles for this outfit since and his return to the Flat was uninspiring at Chelmsford in December. May need this and seemingly no better than averagely handicapped.
Just about a career best when only narrowly denied at Chepstow last time out. Due to go up 5lb for that when the handicapper has his say and a reproduction of that effort may be enough to take this.
Returned with a much improved effort here last time out and this two-time C&D winner has won off much higher marks in the past. Booking of De Sousa is another big positive for his chance and likely to give it a good go on ground he will relish.
Yet to win in 10 starts and faces a very tough ask from out of the handicap here against these rivals.
Forecasts
Groveman (2/5), Avocadeau (4/1), Attain (11/1), Il Sicario (14/1), Champagne Freddie (25/1)
Groveman produced a much improved effort last time out at Chepstow and while a reproduction of that may be good enough to win this, he hasn't been the most consistent sort. With that in mind, a chance is taken on two-time course winner AVOCADEAU who is sure to relish conditions here and gets Silvestre De Sousa back on board for the first time in a while. Attain is very consistent and may prove better than the rest.
