Been running well this year without winning and ran over 1m2½f (good to firm) here last time. Immediately drops back in trip today and should be a player once again with rider claiming a valuable 5lb.

Winner of a four-runner contest at Newmarket (1m, good to firm) off a 4lb lower mark in May. Goes particularly well there and has yet to win off a mark this high. May face some competition for the lead here and is opposable as a result.

Not far behind Starlight Romance (runs 2.10) when finishing seventh of 16 here over 7f (good to firm) two weeks ago. Has now dropped to a very competitive mark and should be a leading contender at this level.

Looked in desperate need of the run on return to action at Redcar last week on first start for this yard. Tailed off there and although he should come on for the run he might need some relief from the handicapper before becoming of interest now.

A really likeable and progressive type who was a touch unlucky not to go closer behind Starlight Romance (runs 2.10) two weeks ago. Nudged up another 1lb for that but shapes like this trip will suit and is a leading contender once again

A really consistent type that has been punished by the handicapper this year without winning. That makes life tough and whilst he should go well, he may just find a couple too good once again.

Given a good ride to win from the front at Haydock (1m, good to firm) last week. Rise in the weights largely offset by riders claim but this is a much tougher contest and should have competition for the lead here.

Improving type that has won his last two including when making all the running on handicap debut at Chelmsford (1m, AW) last time. That tracks suits that run style and he will have competition for the lead here off this 6lb higher mark. Respected.

Had wind surgery prior to joining this yard at the back-end of last year. Run well in defeat the last twice and whilst he's capable of going well again, this is competitive stuff in here. Yard won this race last year so respected all the same.

Slowly coming back to hand this year and has hit the front before being headed on his last two starts over 7f. Extra yardage is a slight question mark but definitely capable off this sort of mark. Probably needs to be held onto a little longer.

Four starts last year when trained by Brian Smart. Encouraging start for this yard when shaping well at Wolverhampton (1m½f, AW) last month and every chance of major improvement now back on turf for yard that do so well here.

Forecasts

Voyager Blue (7/2), Kaeso (4/1), Spray The Sea (6/1), Club Wexford (7/1), Fayez (8/1), International Man (8/1), Alfred Hutchinson (8/1), Roll On Rory (14/1), My Amigo (16/1), Ginger Jack (16/1), Parys Mountain (20/1)

Verdict

Another intriguing contest that should be run at a good clip with a few front runners opposing each other. Kaeso is very much respected having run so well again over slightly shorter here last time. He shapes like this trip will suit. Money for Parys Mountain for the yard that won this race last year should be noted. This may well go the way of one of the three-year-olds in the field though. Voyager Blue is respected having shown improved form the last twice but the shortlist is headed by SPRAY THE SEA who shaped with lots of promise on debut for a yard that do so well here. He can take this on route to better things.
  1. Spray The Sea
  2. Kaeso
  3. Voyager Blue
