Down the field at Nottingham last time following a couple of more promising efforts at the same course. Makes his Polytrack debut here with top-weight looking a big ask.
C&D winner who has been in excellent form of late, including winning at Bath two starts back and going close to following up at Windsor last time. On the same mark and very interesting on return to this course.
Winner on handicap debut at Newmarket last June, but subsequently last of all at Ascot (in a much tougher race) and off since. Needs to prove the lay-off isn't an issue.
Yet to get off the mark, though easily his best performances have come over this C&D, including off 1lb higher two starts back. Interesting on return to this trip.
Made only a low-key return to action at Leicester last time out, but form over this trip last year much more encouraging, improvement possible and visor applied.
Two starts since joining this yard have been poor (one over hurdles) and 4lb drop down the weights not enough to make him of interest. Visor on.
Second on return to the AW at this course last time out. Step up in trip an unknown for him but has looked as if it shouldn't be an issue, and he's interesting off just 1lb higher.
All four career wins have come over 1m on the AW, including C&D. Took a step back in the right direction last time but on the whole not at his best of late.
No win since June 2015 and that losing streak didn't seem much closer to ending when beaten 23L at Ascot last time.
All of his best form is over shorter than this, though he hasn't all that much racing over this trip so could be worth another go. Interesting to see if a first-time visor brings about improvement.
Yet to show too much in handicap company with the exception of a second placed finish at Brighton two starts back. Doesn't appear to be one to rely on.
Only career win to date came at this course over shorter (in novice company), and steps up to this trip for the first time here. Unlikely to have an issue with this far on pedigree and has a chance on recent form.
Fourth behind Sir Plato at Bath last time out. Better off at the weights now but general recent form leaving him with work to do.
Has run well on all three starts in novice company and makes his handicap debut here, interesting to see how he gets on off this mark.
Forecasts
Najashee (7/2), Ptarmigan Ridge (4/1), Sergio Leone (9/2), Zain Star (7/1), Hedging (10/1), Gerry The Glover (14/1), Rosarno (14/1), Sir Plato (16/1), Pike Corner Cross (20/1), Chess Move (25/1), Dark Crocodile (25/1), Lawmaking (33/1), Cyrus Dallin (33/1), Luna Bear (66/1)
With few of these arriving here in particularly good form, SIR PLATO is of obvious interest. A winner at Bath two starts back he went close to following up at Windsor last time. The fact he's a C&D winner further enhances his claims, though it's worth noting he is significantly higher in the weights now than when previously winning here. Of the others, there should be more to come from Najashee, while Pike Corner Cross should enjoy this 1m on the AW.
- Sir Plato
- Najashee
- Pike Corner Cross
