Front-running type who has run with credit this year without quite firing at his optimum level as yet. Slipped back below his last winning mark although this trip does look a little on the short side for him.
Arguably better on the AW these days with his last five wins coming on synthetic surfaces (ran as well as ever when winning over 7f recently). That win has pushed him too high in the weights on the AW and this mark also looks tough back on turf.
Starting to find his feet with this yard and ran a race full of promise at York last time (came from well off the pace). Yet to run over 1m for this yard but stays the trip (last win came over it) and not one to be taken lightly here.
Made a very promising debut for his new yard last time after having some wind surgery. May have be aided by how the race was run but only went down by 2L to an in-form winner; was competitive off higher marks last year.
Progressive last year his form this year hasn't quite lived up to those expectations but he has had excuses. Did a little bit too much on his return (better than bare result) and hampered early on last time (run best forgotten); yet to win at 1m.
Offered up a promising start for his new stable after a significant break on his debut for them at Ayr over 7f. Not given a hard time once his chance had gone (travelled well) and will be more at home over this trip (both wins at 1m).
Last two starts have confirmed that he is back to form; looked a little better than the result last time. Needs a strong gallop to run at but maybe not the strongest finisher but has slipped back below his last winning rating.
Had a scenario that favoured him in terms of pace/weights/trip when taking an amateur riders event at York over 7f (penultimate run). Failed to back that run up in different circumstances last time and needs to bounce back.
Remains at the top of his game having already won three handicaps this year at up to 7f and did best of those to race up with the pace at York last time (well drawn). Only tried at 1m once before on the AW and test may prove too much.
Undeniably well handicapped on two of his latest three starts but comes here off the back of a poor effort in a higher grade. This is more his class (last two wins in 0-85 company) but does need to repeat his penultimate effort to have a chance.
Unreliable sort who whilst capable is hard to catch right and often follows a good run with a poor one as has happened already this season. Always an awkward ride (best held up) and will need plenty of good fortune to land this.
Progressing well this year and has done little wrong of late winning two of his last three starts and recording a career-best last time with a clinical display at Hamilton. Carries a penalty here but 3lb well-in at the weights; major chance.
Had caught the eye on his second run for this yard and duly fulfilled that promise at Ayr last time travelling well and staying on to win comfortably. This will provide a stiffer test under a penalty but he's not one to be easily dismissed.
Yet to win for these connections but is going through a good spell of form at the moment sticking well to his task to finish runner-up at York last time. Should continue to give a good account; could do with some help from the handicapper.
C&D winner (the only one in the field) and a winner on his only start this year (has gone well fresh before) making all at Beverley over 1m under today's rider. This will be tougher however and needs a career-best to land this.

A typically open running of one of the two feature races on the card with the majority of the big Northern yard’s represented. Calvados Spirit hasn’t been with his current yard long but made an impression with his first start for them and he’s given a chance if he can build on that Haydock run. Imperial State looks the pick of the three Mick Easterby runners and a repeat of his recent York run will see him go close in this. Presidential (not sure to stay 1m) and Alemaratalyoum are two others that have been in fine form of late but it’s VIVE LA DIFFERENCE who looks the most progressive. He fairly bounded home last time and looks to be well treated under his penalty for his last Hamilton win.
