Solid, reliable AW sprinter (2 from 8) who demonstrated that he can act on turf despite being comfortably held by ready winner Porto Ferro at Windsor (6f) early last month.
Beaten just a neck in this contest in 2017 (1lb higher mark), he returned to action from a seven month break as a 6f winner at Chepstow eleven days ago; major chance off a 4lb higher mark.
Back from a three-plus month break, he was in the winners enclosure at odds of 25/1 at Salisbury in late May (6f good to soft); has also won on good ground in the past; up 3lb.
Tends to race up with the pace and made the frame on his penultimate start at Nottingham last month (same mark); worthy excuses latest when a heavily eased 9/2f, but plenty on with Picket Line nevertheless.
Broke her duck at the 11th attempt on quick ground at Bath (5.5f) ten days ago, but could have more too offer now racing on grass (1 from 2). However, a 6lb rise in the weights means that a career personal best is required.
Claimed for £5,000 after winning at Chelmsford in May (6f), but this former David Griffiths trained inmate remains a maiden on turf (0 from 12); blew the start when beaten comprehensively by Whitecrest at Nottingham.
Broadly living up to his name since winning at Lingfield (6f) in January, although did finish with a rare old rattle at Windsor (6f) last week when fifth of 11 to Bernie's Boy; reasonably treated on turf.
Seven race maiden who continues to knock firmly at the door in handicap company; a runner up over 6f at Lingfield in late May. Cheekpieces applied seeking that elusive success.
Seven-race maiden who for whatever reason bombed out badly at Goodwood last month (finished last of ten); her earlier placed efforts at Brighton and Bath are more encouraging but probably not quite enough.
Not won on turf for over 13 months (6f), but has dropped 6lb in the handicap since mid-May, so in theory that should prove helpful; couldn't quite hack the pace with Swanton Blue at Chepstow (6f) latest (fourth in this race in 2017).
Historically is stronger on turf (7 from 53) than the AW (2 from 19), so no surprise he upped his game back on grass at Brighton recently (6f firm); 11lb below his last winning mark (fifth in this race in 2017).
Unexposed after just four starts and finished a fair fifth on seasonal reappearance/handicap debut under Hayley Turner in a 3yo fillies handicap at Leicester (6f) last month; dropped 3lb since.

Yogiyogiyogi (5/1), Whitecrest (5/1), Desert Fox (11/2), Global Excel (13/2), Swanton Blue (13/2), Anonymous John (8/1), Aguerooo (9/1), Deeds Not Words (9/1), Haylah (10/1), Coastal Cyclone (14/1), Picket Line (20/1), Hold Your Breath (20/1), Indian Affair (20/1)
A handful of tonight's runners competed for this prize in 2017, including SWANTON BLUE (second), Indian Affair (fourth) and the well handicapped Deeds Not Words (fifth). This year's renewal looks to be a competitive affair with four last time out winners bidding to defy the attentions of the handicapper and some unexposed horses such as Global Excel and Hold Your Breath seeking breakthrough victories. However, we'll stick to the tried and tested route and opt for the Ed De Giles-trained 2017 runner up Swanton Blue; he demonstrated his current well-being when forcing the pace throughout to win on his comeback run at Chepstow.
- Swanton Blue
- Deeds Not Words
- Anonymous John
