Last win on turf came in 2015 and that's the only win from 32 starts away from AW. Beat over 7L this C&D earlier in the month and just a pound lower in ratings here.
Bit inconsistent but capable on a going day, as he showed when second at Carlisle three starts back over 7f on good to firm. Not repeated it since and a hard character to trust (3-39 on turf).
Won twice last year and back below his last winning mark, entitled to have needed the run over C&D earlier in the month on seasonal bow and could be much better equipped now.
Plenty of promise in the early stages of his career but has largely struggled in handicap company since that run. Changed stables at the end of 2017, better effort over C&D this month and undergone wind surgery since.
Best form on good or softer so needs some rain to enhance his chances. Made the frame over C&D last month but that was on soft and, typically, not as good since at Hamilton or Ayr on sound surface.
Mixed bag in four runs lately, fair effort here over 5f (good to soft) last month, but well held at Ayr most recently on good to firm. Just 2-30 overall on turf.
Back-to-back wins at Catterick and Musselburgh over 6f/7f recently, tougher ask now from 7lb higher but in cracking form and likely to make another bold bid.
Just the one win in 15 turf starts, coming at Catterick (7f, good) last summer off a mark of 58. Poor run over 5f at Beverley last time, has to bounce back.
C&D winner last year and back on a workable mark after below par efforts towards the end of last year. Close up in fourth over C&D recently, should give running again.
One of his two turf wins came over C&D and not dismissed after a more promising third here earlier in the month over 5f here this month. 2lb lower now and useful 7lb claimed on his back.
Decent second in 1m1½f AW claimer at Wolverhampton earlier in the month, drops right back in trip for new yard and looks to make turf breakthrough at the 31st attempt.
C&D winner in August 2016, that remains his most recent success on turf. Out of sorts last year on grass, returns from a layoff and on a very workable mark if able to rediscover his mojo. Watch betting for clues.
Have to go back a couple of years to find his last win, and recent evidence not that encouraging, more like it recently at Yarmouth (6f, good to firm) when fourth of eight in Class 6 event but is 5lb wrong on these terms.
Nothing shown in four AW starts since winter debut to suggest a winning start on turf is likely here. Major improvement called for.
Forecasts
Round The Island (5/2), Araqeel (6/1), Bibbidibobbidiboo (13/2), Crosse Fire (13/2), Grandad's World (8/1), Cosmic Chatter (11/1), Mishaal (12/1), Prazeres (14/1), Alfie's Angel (20/1), Ace Master (20/1), Monsieur Jimmy (25/1), Etienne Gerard (33/1), Major Crispies (33/1), Hocus Focus (50/1)
The hat-trick chasing Bibbidibobbidiboo is much-respected after wins at Catterick and Musselburgh but a 7lb rise in the weights may well be enough to soften her cough for now. Instead it is worth giving a chance to CROSSE FIRE, a previous C&D scorer who shaped well over 5f here recently. He's on a feasible mark and gets a useful claim to further boost his credentials. Alfie's Angel should be fitter here while Araqeel is worth paying attention having undergone wind surgery since a fair effort here earlier in the month.
- Crosse Fire
- Bibbidibobbidiboo
- Araqeel
